Our driver arrived early and came straight to the hotel lobby to pick us up. He also kindly provided water and soft drinks for the journey, which was a lovely touch. When we arrived in Suzhou, we were greeted by our guide, Lulu, who was absolutely lovely! She brought fresh fruit for us to enjoy throughout the trip, took lots of beautiful photos of us at different spots, and recommended great places to shop, buy souvenirs, enjoy local food, and have tea. She was so friendly, flexible, and accommodating, making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Suzhou is definitely worth a visit! It has a completely different vibe from Shanghai, with a charming, old-world atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. I highly recommend visiting if you want to experience a different side of China!

To avoid the National Day holiday rush, we arrived at the meeting point an hour earlier than scheduled. The crab farm owner was incredibly welcoming; he immediately arrived ahead of time to lead us to his private dock and personally steered us by boat to the core crab farming base of Yangcheng Lake. We experienced actually catching hairy crabs with nets, various river fish, and wild river shrimp. He even took us to pick wild water chestnuts. After arriving on the island, the owner's restaurant staff held up a sign at the dock and led us to the restaurant. We saw shrimp comparable in size to small lobsters, and even tied up some hairy crabs ourselves. The lunch set meal and afternoon tea were delicious and the portions were generous. After lunch, we strolled around the island's museum. Before heading back, we bought a few hairy crabs from the owner to pack up. This trip was suitable for all ages.
