I joined The Bloody Tour of York on the spookiest night of all – Friday the 13th – and it was absolutely brilliant! Our guide, Mad Alice, was phenomenal. She brought the dark history of York to life with a perfect mix of theatrical flair, sharp wit, and chilling storytelling. From tales of plagues and executions to ghostly legends, every stop on the tour kept us captivated.
The route was well-paced, covering some of York’s most iconic (and haunted!) spots. Despite the eerie content, there was plenty of humour and historical insight, which made it entertaining and informative in equal measure.
Mad Alice’s charisma and passion made this tour more than just a walk—it felt like a mini immersive theatre experience. If you’re in York and even remotely curious about its sinister past, this tour is a must. And if you’re lucky enough to go on Friday the 13th... be prepared for an extra dose of atmosphere. Highly recommend!★

It was a nice walk in the city center. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. His stories are animated.
The walk was just right in terms of distance and duration. There were many of us in the tour but it was very organized and our guide made sure we were fully engaged.
This is a really nice way to spend the evening in York. I highly recommend.★

Our tour guide Nick not only had great knowledge about the local area, but also had a lot of knowledge about history in general. You could tell he was passionate about being able to tell people about the great city of York and as a first time visitor, I was glad I chose to go on this tour. If you're going to York and you have a couple of hours to spare, make sure you add this into your diary.
