Skiing Precautions

1. Carefully familiarize yourself with the ski run's elevation, width, slope gradient, and direction. Be able to recognize and comply with all warning signs and instructions at the ski resort.

Second, choose a ski slope that matches your skill level. Do not overestimate your abilities and act recklessly. Progress step by step and consider hiring a ski instructor.

When taking a break midway, stop by the side of a gentler slope rather than beneath steep sections, and be mindful of skiers coming down from above.

4. When descending, you are responsible for avoiding collisions with skiers ahead. If you collide with someone from behind, you are fully liable for the incident.

5. While sliding, if you feel any equipment abnormalities or encounter unclear conditions ahead, you should stop immediately to check your gear or assess the situation on the slope ahead. Do not take unnecessary risks.

When skiing in a group, always maintain a safe distance between each other. Never descend at dangerous speeds to catch up with companions, as this can easily lead to falls or collisions with others. Beginners are particularly prone to such accidents.

7. If you lose control while sliding, quickly lower your center of gravity and sit back to fall. After falling, avoid struggling randomly. Instead, raise your limbs, curl your body, and let yourself slide downward. Avoid sliding headfirst and, most importantly, prevent rolling.

8. If someone is injured, do not move them casually and report to staff immediately. 9. Strictly comply with all rules and regulations of the ski resort, as each one is designed to maximize the safety of skiers.

Notes for Beginners

① Make sure the snow boot clips are fastened tightly, to the point where your ankle joints feel slightly immobile. This helps prevent ankle sprains.

② Do not loop the ski poles around your wrists. If you fall, let go of the poles naturally.

Bend your knees, shift your weight to the balls of your feet, and glide using the inside edges of both skis. Keep the ski tips about 10 cm apart with the tails spread wide. Maintain this stance while descending to control your skiing speed.

④ If you feel unsteady, actively slide sideways to fall instead of leaning backward.

⑤ Once you can glide, gradually feel the outward push with both feet to experience the braking technique.

⑥ Keep the skis parallel and glide downhill. When speed increases, quickly spread the tails to brake; then bring the tails back together and continue descending gradually before braking again.

One important point is to hire a ski instructor, which can achieve twice the result with half the effort and ensure personal safety. Most ski instructors at large ski resorts are retired professional skiers with extensive experience. Ordinary people can basically learn skiing techniques within one or two days. With professional guidance, both movements and safety aspects can avoid detours.
