Sugawara no Michizane, enshrined at Tenmangu Shrine, is revered in Japan as the "God of Learning" and the "God of Calligraphy". He has a history of 1,100 years and is respected throughout Japan.

Yufuin is located in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. This small mountain town was originally called Yufuin. In 1955, Yufuin and Yunohira Village merged and were named Yufuin. However, the station name and the basin name still retain the name "Yufuin." Yufuin Onsen is one of Kyushu's premier hot spring resorts and a famous summer retreat, with its hot spring water output ranking third in Japan.

Stunning panoramic views and vibrant seasonal colors await on Kyushu's unique cable car, which can carry 101 people! A 10-minute ride takes you to the mountain world at 1,300m above sea level! From the summit, you can take in the magnificent scenery and distinct seasonal beauty, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the views.

If the cable car stops operating due to poor visibility or weather, we will change to visiting Umi Jigoku. Please note that temperatures are lower at the mountain top, so dress warmly.

Cable car fees are at your own expense. JPY 1,700/person

Beppu has many hot springs, most of which are named "Jigoku" (hell). Among them, the most famous are the Eight Hells of Beppu: Umi Jigoku, Onishi Bozu Jigoku, Yama Jigoku, Kamado Jigoku, Oniyama Jigoku, Shiraike Jigoku, Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell), and Tatsumaki Jigoku. Kamado Jigoku is one of these. It is said that since ancient times, during the spring and autumn festivals of the Kamado Hachiman Shrine, people used the heat from this hell to prepare offerings, which is how it got the name "Kamado Jigoku". Fierce steam vents and gushing hot springs cause the hell's spring temperature to reach up to 90 degrees Celsius.
