Itinerary:
Join the adventure tour and experience the magnificent views of Vatnajökull Glacier in the Skaftafell region. The highlight of this trip is the opportunity to enter a natural ice cave. Hike across Falljökull Glacier under the guidance of a professional guide, explore its glacial landscape, and learn about its continuous evolution. Get up close to Iceland's natural wonder—the crystal-clear blue ice cave. The tour takes place at Falljökull Glacier, an outlet glacier in Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Known for its jagged ice ridges, ice towers, and stunning ice cave views, it's a popular destination for glacier hiking and ice cave exploration. Conveniently located in the Skaftafell Nature Reserve near Svínafellsjökull Glacier, it's approximately 126 km from Höfn town and 147 km from Vík town.
The adventure begins at the Troll base camp in Hof, just a few minutes from the glacier, where free parking is available. Please arrive at the meeting point at least 20 minutes before departure to meet your professional glacier guide (English-speaking service). You will be provided with essential glacier safety equipment: helmets, crampons, harnesses, and ice axes. After gearing up, it's about a 20-minute walk to the glacier's edge. Upon arrival, the guide will conduct a comprehensive safety briefing and demonstrate how to walk safely with the equipment. The experience includes approximately 3 hours of glacier hiking. During the hike, you'll explore the Falljökull glacier's unique landscape. The guide will lead you to magnificent glacier areas, deep crevasses, and moulins, allowing you to witness breathtaking geological formations. The most unforgettable part of the journey is entering a naturally formed blue ice cave, where you can admire the blue ice layers up close. After the experience, return to the meeting point and enjoy a complimentary hot coffee.
