Day 1You start in Edinburgh and head west. This journey is a history lover's dream. You'll pass Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and Doune Castle before stopping for a rest in Callander. Next we head north through the stunning scenery around Loch Lubnaig to the desolate landscape of Rannoch Moor. You will travel through the spectacular valley of Glencoe, the scene of the Clan MacDonald massacre in 1692. After Lunch we pass Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in England, and enter the Great Glen. Heading west you will pass the Five Sisters of Kintail. You will then stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle*, one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. Crossing the bridge to the Isle of Skye, you will follow the dramatic coastline until you reach Portree, the island's capital. After all these Standard Price views, you will be transferred to your accommodation in the evening, with plenty of time to explore the town. *Please note that Eilean Donan Castle has reduced Opening Time between 1 October and 22 December, which may affect some tours. The castle is completely closed from 22 December 2023 to 1 February 2024. From 1 February to 24 March 2024, the castle has reduced Opening Time(10am to 3pm). *Eilean Donan Castle will also be closed for weddings on the following dates: 14, 22 and 29 February 2024. Day 2Today is a flexible day on Skye; your driver- Guide will ensure you choose a unique route based on weather, local Activities and the interests of Group. You can head to the Trotternish Ridge in the north and beyond. Here you can discover geological wonders like the Old Senior of Storr, Kilt Rock and the stunning Quiraing Pass. Or your Guide might take you back in time, teaching you about the legends and clan culture surrounding Dunvegan Castle, the 13th-century home of Clan MacLeod. You will return to Portree in the evening. 3rd dayYou'll cross the Cuillin Hills and return to the mainland, taking in stunning views of Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintyre. You'll Lunch at Loch Ness and have the chance to look for 'Nessie'*! Heading south through the Grampian mountains, you'll drive along Loch Laggan, now known as the "Monarch of the Glen Country", before passing Dalwhinnie and continuing past Blair Castle. We will stop in a Perthshire village for a rest before returning to Edinburgh via Perth and across the Firth of Forth. *Loch Ness cruise is optional and weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice.
