Ancient Longzhong

Ancient Longzhong is located among the mountains west of Xiangyang city, where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion during his youth. Legend has it that this place is surrounded by mountains, with only one peak "rising abruptly in the center," standing prominently among the ridges, hence the name "Longzhong." At the age of seventeen, Zhuge Liang came here with his uncle, farming and studying diligently for nearly a decade, earning the nickname "Crouching dragon." Later, Liu Bei visited his thatched cottage three times, and Zhuge Liang proposed the "Longzhong Plan" outlining the tripartite division of the world. Ancient Longzhong thus became known as the "cradle of wisdom" and the "birthplace of the tripartite division strategy." Today, the attraction still preserves traces of this history: the Wuhou Temple, originally built during the Jin dynasty, rises in tiers along the mountain slope as a site for commemorating Zhuge Liang; the Three visits hall was constructed to honor Liu Bei's three visits, with ancient cypresses in front said to be the very trees where Liu, Guan, and Zhang tied their horses; thatched cottage pavilion, farming fields, small rainbow bridge, hexagonal well, old dragon cave, and knee-embracing rock collectively form the "Ten scenes of Longzhong" passed down since the Ming dynasty—the knee-embracing rock is believed to be where Zhuge sat chanting "Liangfu yin." At the entrance stands a Qing-dynasty bluestone archway inscribed with "Ancient Longzhong," flanked by phrases from "Admonitions to my son"—"Indifference to fame reveals one's ambition" and "Tranquility leads to far-reaching vision"—with Du Fu's famous couplet "Three visits exhausted the world's schemes, two reigns revealed the veteran's heart" carved on pillars, serving as the attraction's iconic photo spot. Hiking up to Tenglong Pavilion atop the mountain offers panoramic views of Longzhong's forests and fields; nestled in the valley lies a thatched-roof theater once staging the large-scale outdoor drama "Thatched cottage: Zhuge Liang," chronicling his life. "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" describes this place as having "hills not lofty but elegant, waters not deep but clear." The leisurely pace of the visit allows you to share the story of the Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage with your children as you stroll. If you're interested in Zhuge Liang's life, we recommend setting aside half a day to explore the inscriptions and exhibits in detail, which is more rewarding than a hurried visit.Xiangyang · 12.3km from downtown

We experienced the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty, with its envoys from all nations paying tribute, the bustling East and West Markets, and the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. The actors' performances were excellent, and the elderly in my family still remember it fondly. It was lively, fun, and very enjoyable.

Ancient Longzhong is well worth a visit. The mountains and forests are serene, and the atmosphere of the Three Kingdoms period is palpable. Take your time walking, and finally, climb to the top of Tenglong Pavilion. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire mountain forest and the distant city of Xiangyang. The view is expansive, and the mountain breeze is refreshing. Two to three hours is just right for the whole trip. Recommended for those who love the Three Kingdoms and enjoy a light hike. Following in the footsteps of Zhuge Liang, the author climbs the steps to reach the highest point of Tenglong Pavilion. Gazing out from the railing at the rolling mountains, with the wind whistling through the pavilion, one can truly appreciate the meaning of "tranquility leads to far-reaching vision." It's a comfortable yet profound journey.

The Xiangyang Ancient City Wall is located in Xiangcheng District, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province. Originally built during the Han Dynasty, it underwent several renovations from the Tang to the Qing Dynasties. The wall was initially roughly square, with a perimeter of 7331 meters, a maximum height of 10.84 meters, and a thickness of 11-14 meters. The overall structure includes trapezoidal cross-section walls and arched gates. The city wall has six gates on its four sides, each with a barbican or inner city, and corner towers at the four corners. Along the wall are watchtowers and beacon towers, and over 4000 crenellations are built. A moat surrounds the city, reaching a maximum width of 250 meters and an average width of 180 meters. On June 25, 2001, the Xiangyang Ancient City Wall was designated as a fifth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. Speaking of the ancient city of Xiangyang, it inevitably evokes memories of Jin Yong's martial arts novels for a generation. The legendary stories of the heroes Guo Jing and Huang Rong defending the city and Yang Guo losing his arm all took place here. It was also a place where Yue Fei's army once fought.

Besides the usual rides, the park also features an aquarium and a zoo, with beautifully landscaped plants. It seems suitable for both adults and children. There are rides for all age groups. Perhaps because it's currently the off-season, the wait times for rides are minimal, resulting in a fantastic experience. Normally, at amusement parks, a single ride can take at least half an hour, but here, you can quickly enjoy all the rides and just relax. For those who are afraid of thrills, there are immersive 3D and 7D rides that are incredibly realistic, or you can take your children to see the animals. The zoo is quite clean and doesn't have any strong odors.

This place is perfect for bringing kids! The petting zoo is the most popular spot – the bunnies and lambs are incredibly cute, and the feeding and interaction are so therapeutic. The climbing area is also a lot of fun; my child played until they were sweating buckets but didn't want to leave. They said they want to come back again! Highly recommended!

Calligraphy enthusiasts should definitely check this out; the environment is tranquil and cool. I brought some bread to feed the fish, and many koi swarmed around, which was quite interesting, and the kids really enjoyed it.

Overall, the scenic area is rich in content, with good cultural and natural landscapes. You can see the thousand-year-old mountain village and the mountain village museum, take the cableway, slide and cruise, ride horses, pick fruits, drink tea, and walk via ferrata. The mountain is not very high, so it is not tiring to climb. There are also special performances and robot interactions during the festival, and parking is free.

Family, does anyone know anything about this?! The Xiangyang Museum truly amazed me! I initially thought this kind of niche museum would be ordinary, but I was blown away the moment I stepped inside! The general history exhibition here is incredibly comprehensive, covering everything from ancient times to modern times with a crystal-clear historical timeline. The exhibition layout is also incredibly thoughtful; the lighting is just right—not too bright, not too dim. Many artifacts of similar categories are neatly arranged in display cases, making it look incredibly organized and a very comfortable place to browse! I especially love this way of categorizing and displaying artifacts. You can immediately tell the age and type of an artifact, which is so helpful for a history novice like me! And there weren't many people, so I could take my time looking at everything without worrying about being crowded. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! If you also enjoy history and culture, and appreciate in-depth travel and cultural experiences, then the Xiangyang Museum is definitely worth a visit! Trust me, you will be amazed by the artifacts and displays!

The only real historical relic in the Prince Xiang's Mansion is the Nine-Dragon Stone Screen Wall; the rest are replicas of ancient architecture. Since many key figures from both official and unofficial histories overlap here, offering a glimpse into the past, it feels like a parallel universe—quite interesting!
