Climbing the Badaling Great Wall, one is greeted by the endless, undulating walls. But what truly inspires awe is the reawakening of history through the explanations provided. During this trip, our guide, Mr. Chen, with his solid professional skills and composed narration, transformed Badaling from a mere tourist attraction into a historical site worthy of understanding and reflection.
Mr. Chen's explanations were both insightful and logical. He didn't rush to conclusions, but rather unfolded the story layer by layer, starting with the background of the Great Wall's construction, its historical context, its military function, and the sacrifices of ordinary people, placing the grand historical narrative back into the context of real people and the era. Listening to his explanations wasn't just about gaining knowledge; it was about feeling the weight and warmth of history.
Beyond his professionalism, Mr. Chen's sense of responsibility and meticulousness were even more impressive. He maintained a good pace throughout the trip, ensuring the content was complete while catering to the different stamina and experiences of various tourists. The guide was pleasant and advised us to go to a less crowded area. He was very polite. He also had a good car. We were just a family in the car, and the guide was very accommodating when we asked to stop at a grocery store along the way.★

It was an amazing experience, so organized and we left on time. Divina was the best, she contacted me the day before the trip, she always responded to my messages promptly. I was traveling solo so she recommended the perfect route for me, she even helped me when I was lost up there. Will definitely book again with you in October if I visit again as she recommended the view will be amazing! Even after we returned, she helped me find the metro station and helped me get the ticket. We really enjoyed this day tour from Beijing. The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall was fantastic and very fun to hike. We had about three hours there, which was enough time to hike from Zhuanduokou Pass to Houchuankou Pass, even venturing a bit further toward the Flower Tower, without feeling rushed. This part of the wall was pleasantly quiet, and we were glad to visit a less crowded section.
The tour later joins groups going to Mutianyu, so we had to change buses. This was probably the part we enjoyed the least. The time allocated for Mutianyu and Gubei Water Town felt quite rushed. By the time we reached the wall and took the cable car up, we only had about 1 hour there, which didn’t leave much time to enjoy the sunset and night views.
Walking through the water town afterward was beautiful with the lights, but again very rushed. Overall, it was a memorable day and a dream to see the Great Wall, but we strongly suggest allowing more time at Mutianyu and Gubei Water Town.
