Reviews: From Mumbai: Half-Day Elephanta Caves Tour with Ferry Ride
Guest User2026-01-14
We really enjoyed this tour. Danish DK was so helpful in navigating the ferry to the caves, from organising the ferry ticket and getting seats on the ferry. Upon arrival at the caves, Danish DK had organised a local guide to show us around the caves who was very knowledgeable. It would have been very difficult to navigate the ferry without him. The whole process was smooth and easy. The tour was really enjoyable.

We booked a family excursion to Elephanta caves with a tour bus, speedboat, and guide. Mr. Vikrant and Mr. Sameer were excellent in arranging and coordinating the trip on short notice. We would happily work with them again when visiting Mumbai.

Hour long ferry ride with Shuaib to the island, short ride on a mini train to the caves and tour with a local. Both were very attentive and fun to talk to. I went on a group tour (which was only one more traveler) and felt completely safe, no awkward situations whatsoever as a woman traveling alone. Shuaib took very good care of us including bottled water or sodas. Make sure you text the tour operator on Whatsapp a day or so before to confirm hotel pickup or any other accomodations.

An unbelievable, genuinely out of this world experience right next to Mumbai, but a world away. Insist on Rahul - his positivity, warmth, and knowledge are infectious. One of the very best guides we had for our whole trip. He is born and raised on the island in their small community. His English is excellent. He will take you to a unique and unforgettable island community in Mumbai harbor that feels a world away. Incredible to get to see the city from the water, then you get the chance to see the biome that dominated the whole coast before the city was built. The view from the top is not to be missed. Then, you’ll be taken through an incredible ancient temple to Shiva, where the story of the statues and the history will be woven to you with great clarity. Incredible surprises await. Afterwards, if you wish, tour one of the island collage villages, shop for souvenirs, grab a local bite and enjoy a beer, or just watch the local monkeys at their antics. With more than two or three days in Mumbai, this is not to be missed! Be aware, there is about a mile of walking uphill to get to the temple - it is all shaded and not especially strenuous, but it should be accounted for. Very much not wheelchair accessible. If the climb presents too intimidating a challenge, a group of locals can take you up in a comfortable chair.
