Shifen is one of the old towns scattered around the suburbs of Taipei!
Shifen is the most popular area along the local line (Pingxi Line), and the area along the tracks near the station is lined with old-fashioned streets, souvenir shops, and B-grade gourmet food stalls.
Here you can experience the famous lantern raising event, where you write a wish on a lantern and send it flying high into the sky.
Also, near Shifen Old Street is Shifen Waterfall, famous as the "Niagara of Taiwan."
It is 40 meters wide and the strange rocks eroded by the water flowing down 20 meters are a sight to behold.
The path to the waterfall has been fully developed as a waterfall park, with an easy slope for strolling through nature and a shop.
From Shifen to Ruifang Station, the nearest station to Jiufen Old Street, you can take the local train Pingxi Line and enjoy the view of the natural beauty from the window.
After arriving in Jiufen, you will fill up on a light snack of local cuisine and then enjoy a leisurely 3-hour stroll around Jiufen Old Street, the main street of Jiufen.
In the afternoon, Jiufen is less crowded, allowing you to enjoy the architectural decorations that are hard to see on an evening tour, as well as the panoramic view of the old town and the sea. Enjoy shopping and eating at the famous Amei Tea House, food stalls, and souvenir shops.
Let's enjoy the time at our leisure.
Starting in the morning, you can visit all the tourist spots and enjoy a leisurely stroll around Jiufen during less crowded hours. This is a highly recommended tour that allows you to fully enjoy the different scenery of Taiwan's two major tourist spots at night!
