09:40 Dazaifu Tenmangu - The head shrine of Tenmangu shrines dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning (approx. 90 min, free time available)

Dazaifu Tenmangu enshrines the universally revered deity of learning, Sugawara no Michizane. As the head shrine of approximately 12,000 Tenmangu shrines across Japan and one of Kyushu's largest Shinto shrines, it attracts numerous visitors from both domestic and international locations.

11:50 Beppu Cable Car - An aerial cable car connecting Beppu with the slopes of Mount Tsurumi, offering panoramic views of Beppu Bay and the surrounding mountains (approx. 60 min, free time, cable car fee not included)

The Beppu Cable Car (Beppu Ropeway) is located in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, Japan, serving as a key tourist transportation facility to Mount Tsurumi (elevation 1,375 meters). Spanning approximately 1,816 meters, the one-way ride takes about 10 min, with multiple support towers along the route. Passengers can enjoy breathtaking views of Beppu city, Beppu Bay, and the surrounding mountain ranges during the ride.

The cable car has two stations: the Mountain Base Station and the Mountain Top Station. The Mountain Top Station serves as the starting point for hiking and sightseeing, featuring surrounding trails, an observation deck, and a teahouse where visitors can rest and enjoy 360-degree panoramic views.

Each season offers its unique charm: spring brings cherry blossoms covering the mountains, summer provides cool weather making it a perfect summer retreat, autumn paints the forests in vibrant red leaves creating breathtaking scenery, while winter transforms the landscape into a fairytale world with snow and rime ice. The summit of Mount Tsurumi is a popular spot for hikers and photographers, also offering panoramic views of Beppu's steaming hot spring town.
