The tour guide Xiao Song explained very clearly, knowledgeable, very friendly, suitable for parent-child travel with children, the whole 3 hours of children did not feel boring, interactive fun, answer the right question and small gold coins, small gifts. Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.★

Highly recommended! The tour includes information about the wall, an entrance ticket, and roundtrip transportation from Dongzhimen Station. Please note! A guide will not accompany you to the wall (they are not necessary). You must purchase cable car/sled tickets separately, or you can buy them from the guide on the bus (they are the same price). There are two routes to choose from: the red route from the 14th to the 20th towers - the most beautiful views, an uphill climb, and a roundtrip indoor funicular ride (140 yuan); the green route from the 6th to the 1st towers - the views are also beautiful, but not as breathtaking, an open funicular ride, and a sled/funnel ride (140 yuan). You can also combine them! I personally chose to only take the red route on the closed funicular and walk from the 14th to the 19th tower (I didn't have enough strength to go any further), then the return route from the 19th to the 6th tower and a sled ride! It cost 200 yuan. The whole journey took me 3.5 hours. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the guide, Maxim; he explained everything in detail, gave advice, and answered the group's questions. Thank you for the trip and the great atmosphere!★

Xiucai said that Guide Li (Xiaohai) took me to visit the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City truly deserves its reputation as one of my country's and even the world's most precious cultural heritages. The magnificent palaces and exquisite treasures were breathtaking and unforgettable. The mysterious court history and the rise and fall of the Ming and Qing dynasties evoked mixed feelings in people's hearts. Guide Li's explanations were meticulous and vivid, combining engaging stories with detailed historical facts. He also shared many fantastic photo spots and suggestions for future visits. Very helpful! In short, this trip to the Forbidden City was well worth it. My child was also deeply educated and inspired; for three hours, he followed Guide Li closely, listening with rapt attention! 😀
