Portland Japanese Garden

4.6/5
29 reviews
The Portland Japanese Garden is a 5.5-acre traditional Japanese garden nestled in Washington Park. The garden was opened to the public in 1967. The Portland Garden combines Western forms and Japanese elements very well. Traditionally designed, gardens generally contain three elements representing the earth: stone represents mountains and islands, water represents center and purity, and plants represent color and growth. These themes are evident in the Portland Japanese Garden. The Japanese Garden focuses more on the sophistication and beauty of gardening. You can see redwood trees from the West Coast of the United States and plants with Japanese characteristics. Of course, you can see small waterfalls and water flowing between rocks everywhere. The Portland Japanese Garden is a masterpiece of Japanese gardens outside of Japan. It also holds some activities and cultural festivals every year, attracting more than 200,000 tourists almost every year.Portland · 2.5km from downtown

Pioneer Court Plaza is named after the Pioneer Court opposite the courthouse. The square covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters, and the ground is covered with many eye-catching red bricks, which are engraved with the names of the people who helped to build and maintain the square. This comes from a project called "BuyaBrick". There are also many high-end shopping malls near the square, and since Portland is tax-free, shopping here is also a good option. It is located in downtown Portland, with all the shops extending along the square, which is a good place for shopping. There is also a pillar on the east side of the square marked with a circle of road signs. These road signs point to Portland's sister cities around the world and their distances. You can also see the name of Suzhou on it, which is very interesting. Usually there are many large-scale activities, such as music performances, marketing activities, etc., will be held here.Portland · 562m from downtown

This is an important part of Portland's urban landscape and anyone interested in architecture or urban design should visit it. Yes, there are always some weird street people here, but it seemed very safe to me. Enjoy a picnic on the steps in front of the fountain, relax, read a book, or just take in the local atmosphere.

Pittock Mansion Pittock Mansion is a century-old house. It was the home of a famous couple in Portland (Henry & Georgiana Pittock). The couple made great contributions to the development of Portland, turning a small city on the northwest coast of Portland into a bustling metropolis. They have always been called the pioneers of Portland. The house was owned and lived in by the descendants of the Pittock family until 1958. Later, in 1964, the city government raised funds to rebuild this century-old mansion, and it was officially opened to the public in 1965 as a family museum. The mansion is divided into 3 floors, and the top floor is not open to the public.

The park is very large, and is suitable for children or friends to play. When I passed by, I saw that there were not many people, which may be related to the weekday. The facilities that a general amusement park should have are also available.
