It is a very typical Chinese-style temple commemorating Zheng He's seven voyages to the South Seas, as Zheng He's original name was Ma Sanbao. However, according to Melaka legend, during Zheng He's first voyage to Melaka, his ship developed a hole. A fish called "Sanbao" bravely used its body to block the hole, preventing water from flooding the cabin and saving Zheng He's life. Thus, the temple was named after this fish. The temple is bustling with incense offerings, and the main hall houses Zheng He's memorial tablet with an inscribed plaque reading "Blessing and Protecting the Land."
