Reviews: CHIANG RAI Iconic White, Blue Temple, Black House Museum Day Tour
Guest User2025-12-19
We set off early from Chiang Mai, first visiting the White Temple, then the Guanyin Temple, then the Black Temple, and finally the Blue Temple. Unexpectedly, the itinerary expanded from three temples to four. The guide provided explanations of each temple in both English and Mandarin, along with extra pictures and detailed explanations! There was a hot spring foot bath at one of the stops along the way; the water was quite hot! We also enjoyed hot spring eggs, coffee, and fruit. At the White Temple, we first had a 20 baht coconut water and then some boat noodles (which tasted very medicinal) before entering. We only entered the area without an entrance fee; the entrance fee was 100 baht. The interior was very elegant, shimmering silver-white in the sunlight! The Guanyin Temple requires climbing to the top, and the entrance fee was 40 baht! The Black Temple entrance fee was 80 baht; some parts were very stylish, while others felt a little scary 😱. Finally, we visited the Blue Temple!
Reviews: CHIANG RAI White, Blue Temple and Black House with KAREN Long Neck Tribe Tour

The tour was substantial and very good. It was a shared ride with a group of people with slightly different plans, and I was the only one on the long-necked tribe tour. I was looking forward to this place the most, but it ended up being the second one instead of the last one on the itinerary. The planned stay was about 40 minutes, but we only spent a quick tour of the village, less than 10 minutes. I wish we had been able to buy souvenirs and take more photos with the villagers. We had plenty of time at the other temples, so I wish they'd been more considerate in the time allocation. The hotel was scheduled to arrive around 5 PM, but we ended up arriving around 7 PM. Both the guide and the driver were very kind.
Reviews: CHIANG RAI Red, White and Blue Temple Full Day Tour from Chiang Mai

It was a fantastic experience. I specifically chose an English-speaking guided tour just to practice my listening skills. We boarded the bus at 7 am and were dropped off at 8 pm, a full 13 hours of travel. Exhaustion was inevitable, but compared to the driver, we were very relaxed and comfortable. We didn't visit the Long Neck Karen village (we were a little scared). The hot spring was small but impressive; the 91-degree boiling water was intimidating. We didn't try the hot spring eggs; 20 baht for 3 eggs was a bit too much for us, so we decided against it. The White Temple, Blue Temple, and Red Temple are definitely worth seeing. We had plenty of time and took fewer photos, so we felt we had enough time to see everything we wanted. Since it was midday, it was difficult to find suitable lighting, and there were too many people, so the photos are only so-so. They would be perfect for photos in the softer light of early morning or late afternoon; we'll have to stay in Chiang Rai next time to achieve that.

Due to my own carelessness, I overlooked a small detail: this tour was from Chiang Mai, not Chiang Rai, as I was staying in the latter. This was quickly noticed, and the agency contacted me. Ultimately, it was decided that I would meet the group at the white temple, which I would reach independently. I skipped the hot springs and the village of the long-necked Karen (this was the point of particular interest to me on this tour). Only the day before the tour, at 10:00 PM, I received the guide's number, which I was supposed to call. In the end, the meeting was scheduled for 11:00 AM. At the appointed time, I met the group and the guide. The guide, Susie, was a lovely woman; she clearly stated the return time throughout and doubled it several times. Entrance tickets were included in the price, so I didn't pay anything extra. The program is very packed, but I don't understand why there isn't something similar from Chiang Rai. The places are magnificent. I was very pleased with the tour. Many vivid impressions, and the group was pleasant. As for improvements, I would add more history about the places visited. Personally, I thought it wasn't enough.
Reviews: Chiang Rai 3 Temples + Golden Triangle Day Tour [Private Small Group|Chinese-English bilingual guide|Departure for 2 or more people

I was looking forward to this Chiang Rai trip knowing that there are a few places that I really wanted to visit. But we had a little hiccup when driver came and brief us about the tour itinerary which sounds different from the booking I made from Trip.com. He mentioned only 3 temples visit and Golden triangle which was not right. As he continue to drive, he was telling me that the trip does not cover lunch, no entrance fee for Long Neck village and no hotspring. I was started to get disturbed as I remembered we specifically wanted to visit these places of interest and he was telling me it doesn't covers?? I decided to whatsapp the agent in Chiang Mai and clarify with them. Thanks to their understanding, they managed to find my booking and rectified it in time. Despite the misunderstanding earlier, I really enjoyed the cruise at Golden triangle, the Long Neck village and the architecture of the white temple.
