Tasman Glacier Data
Tasman Glacier is the longest glacier in New Zealand.
The glacier is 27 km (17 mi) long and lies entirely within the boundaries of Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.
The glacier is 4 km (2.5 miles) wide and 600 meters (2,000 feet) thick.
The glacier covers an area of 101 square kilometers (39 square miles).
The glacier starts at an elevation of 3,000m (9,800ft).

What you need to know
Departure time and check-in
- Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure.
- Please call the flight base 24 hours before departure, as per your confirmation letter, to check the weather conditions and confirm that flying is possible.
Weather
- If your helicopter flight is canceled due to bad weather, you can choose another date or a full refund.
- We recommend booking early before your trip to allow flexibility for weather changes and ensure you don't miss this unique flight experience.
Additional Information
- After payment and booking, please wait for the confirmation information.
- Travelers need moderate physical fitness and hiking ability. For example, you must be able to walk at least 1 km independently and easily climb up or down stairs to participate in this activity.
- Children must be at least 9 years old to participate. They must be able to walk completely independently on uneven terrain and follow instructions. For safety reasons due to glacier/snow conditions and weather, we reserve the right to modify requirements for children.
- Airlines have a minimum passenger requirement for each flight. If the minimum number of passengers is not met, the airline reserves the right to cancel the flight and will only refund the activity fee. Where possible, the airline will coordinate arrangements to fly as scheduled. The maximum allowed weight for travelers in the helicopter's rear seats is 116 kg.
- Our professional guides can only provide verbal and safety instructions in English. If you have hearing difficulties, please inform the staff members and guide.
- Glaciers are not always safe, so always follow a professional guide when hiking on them. If staff members believe that some unruly visitors participating in the activity may pose safety risks, they reserve the right to stop them from continuing the activity.
- For safety reasons, drones, iPads, and selfie sticks are not allowed on board.
What to bring
- Warm upper body clothing (3-4 layers). (Jeans are not recommended)
- Sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Waterproof jacket (If you don't have a waterproof jacket, please let us know in advance).
- We provide professional equipment for glacier hiking.
