If you are only in Iceland for one day, promise me to choose to come to the south bank. Iceland's most important attractions are here. Remember to bring your own headset for easy listening to the voice. The journey takes about 10 hours, and you will feel that everything is worth it when you see the black beach with the naked eye.★

Lovely experience with talented knowledgable guide (Silvie)! You could visit this in your own, but at your own risk. There were a lot of people doing some dangerous things around us. For safety and educational value, we got more out of it. The one caution, make sure you are in good shape! It's a straight uphill climb!★

Such a great and informative experience. The views are amazing and we probably got the best possible guide. 100% recommend. Definitely go for the longer hike. He was able to tell us about all the different features of the glacier and even tied us off at one time to allow us to look into a hole that formed before explaining to us why it formed. You will get many pictures and I even got some of my own 360 images and images on an old film camera I’m excited to see. The pictures I posted really don’t even remotely do the hike justice. The hut is a very short walk from the parking lot. Pack a lunch because you will get a chance to eat. You will even get to drink most likely the purest water you’ve ever drank straight from a glacier. This experience takes up most of the day but it is well worth it in a visit to Iceland!
