The eight of us, who had planned a backpacking trip, only had one day to spare in Dali. We planned to take a train from Kunming the night before, do a day tour, and then return to Lijiang the next morning. We initially considered taking a taxi or bus, but decided that a private charter tour, while a bit more expensive, would be more cost-effective. The charter driver was attentive, using his smartphone to translate and always parking close to our destination. Thanks to him, we had a comfortable one-day tour. About 100 meters from the entrance to Heungnang Ancient Town, across from a public restroom, there was a coffee shop with a nice atmosphere and very affordable price. They grinded coffee beans on the spot and made Americano for 5 yuan. Maxim Coffee was 5 yuan elsewhere. Shuanglang Ancient Town wasn't that great. The S-shaped riverside road was a great photo opportunity. Chongqing Temple with its three pagodas was also nice.★

From the moment we met her, her warm demeanor and deep knowledge of the town grew our excitement for the journey ahead. Our tour was relaxing, allowing us to appreciate the region's tranquil lifestyle. Jennifer, a local Naxi, shared comprehensive insights into the local minority culture, Naxi life, their interactions with the Bi people, and the history of the Tea Horse Road, enriching our understanding of Shaxi's heritage.
Upon our return to Lijiang, Jennifer arranged a tea ceremony and visits to a local Naxi restaurant and supermarket, allowing us to enjoy local tea and foods, offering a rare glimpse into Naxi culture. Jennifer’s expertise, thoughtful planning, and personal touches made our tour incredibly memorable. We highly recommend her for exploring Shaxi and beyond.
