Reviews: [Optional Universal Studios Japan/JR Pass] Premium Have Fun in Kansai Pass 1 Week Free Pass
Guest User2025-12-05
Maximum Value for USJ & Osaka Sightseeing! Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars (Excellent) Version Used: Deluxe Pass (USJ & Transport Combo) My Itinerary Highlights: Universal Studios Japan + Popcorn Bucket, Abeno Harukas 300, Umeda Sky Building, KIX Limousine Bus (arrival), and HARUKA Limited Express (departure). I highly recommend the Have Fun in Kansai Premium Pass, specifically the Deluxe version that includes Universal Studios Japan (USJ). For a trip that focuses on major Osaka attractions and requires convenient airport transfers, this pass is an absolute no-brainer for maximizing value.

Really good value for money and very convenience to use. Be careful to choose only EXPRESS train where it could be a real different.
Reviews: JR Kansai-Hokuriku Area Pass (7-day e-ticket)

It's convenient to receive and use, but this travel pass isn't very cost-effective. I traveled from Toyama to Kanazawa and then to Kyoto. If I hadn't made a special trip to Amanohashidate (which costs 10,000 yen round trip), I feel it would have been difficult to break even.

Reviews: [Official Ticket] JR Kansai Mini Rail Pass 3-Day (Electronic Redemption Voucher)
Guest User2025-11-08
My trip to Osaka was from November 2nd to 6th, 2025. I bought the JR Kansai Mini Pass, which was quite convenient and cost-effective. I visited Kobe and Kyoto, both of which had new rapid transit lines. On the last day, I also took the Airport Express. Note that cars 5-8 on the Airport Express might be assigned to Wakayama, so be sure to take cars 1-4. I also took the Arashiyama Scenic Railway; make sure you buy the correct section ticket, as it offers round-trip tickets. I bought the wrong one.
Reviews: [Official Ticket] JR PASS Kansai Area 1/2/3/4-Day Rail Pass - Electronic Redemption Voucher (Includes HARUKA, Keihan Railway, Hankyu Railway, Kyoto Subway)

This time, since we were going to ski at Hong Kong Hill, which is quite far from Osaka, we bought this JR Pass, which was very cost-effective. A round trip would normally cost around 6,000-7,000 yen, so this basically saved us half the price. I recommend buying GRP tickets if you're traveling to distant places in Japan, as they generally save you money, and if you buy tickets for multiple trips, they often include some premium fares.
