Depart from Zhengzhou to Yuntaishan in Jiaozuo for a day trip to the highlights of Hongshi Gorge and Xiaozhaigou. The itinerary begins with a direct visit to the Yuntaishan Scenic Area, where you'll transfer to a sightseeing bus and then explore Hongshi Gorge first. A rare example of Danxia landform canyon in northern China, Hongshi Gorge is known as the "Bonsai Canyon." The 1,500-meter circular trail connects the "Nine Dragon Creeks," including Shoulongtan and Heilongtan. Along the way, you'll witness the cascading White Dragon Waterfall and the profound Black Dragon Cave. Stalactites and overhanging rocks intersect the cliffs, creating a picturesque scene of crimson cliffs and emerald waters.
In the afternoon, we'll head to Xiaozhaigou, renowned for its "Tanpuchuan" (Ponds and Waterfalls). Within the two-kilometer canyon, you'll find a spring every three steps and a waterfall every five steps. Waterscapes like the Y-shaped Waterfall and the Lover's Waterfall are scattered throughout. The waters of pools like the Dragon Snake Pool and the Emerald Pool are as clear as jade. A stroll along the stream reveals the unique Dragon and Phoenix Wall and the graceful Butterfly Stone. The shallows at the bottom of the ravine, said to have been the drinking pool for Emperor Taizong of Tang, add to the ancient charm.
Meals are not included, so it is recommended that you bring a light meal to replenish your energy. The tour concludes at Erqi Square in Zhengzhou.
