At 8:30 AM, begin your full-day trip with a hotel pickup from Fes. Ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to Rabat, with stops to enjoy the landscape, cool air, and snap some photos. Upon arrival in Morocco's capital, visit Hassan Tower, which stands on a hill overlooking the Bou Regreg river. The Hassan Tower was once intended to be part of the largest mosque in the world, but exists now as a beautiful, unfinished minaret where the storks nest.
Visit the charming Mausoleum of Mohammed-V, decorated with stained glass windows, marble, and a wrought-iron entryway with a stairway leading to a spectacular dome. Enjoy a relaxing lunch-break at a traditional Moroccan restaurant. Drive to the Bou Regrew river, stopping to visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah, the Kasbah of the Udayas, which was constructed during the reign of the Almohads between 1121-1269 to protect the city.
Continue on the Bab Oudaïa art gallery — the facade another great example of Almohad military architecture — and look through the exhibitions of Moroccan folk art. Then, relax in the Moorish-style Andalusian garden. A tour of Rabat is not complete without a stroll around the Chellah ruins, commentating the once powerful Roman port. Lastly, check out the new town and then head back to your hotel in Fes.
