Itinerary
This day trip from Reykjavik takes you into the heart of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve, home to the legendary Landmannalaugar. Known for its neon-colored mountains, vast lava fields, and natural steaming pools, this is the ultimate Icelandic highland experience.

Your adventure begins in Reykjavik, where we board our specialized highland vehicle and head toward the interior. As the paved roads disappear, the landscape transforms. We'll pass the mighty Hekla volcano, one of Iceland's most active, before winding through the dusty, moon-like plains of the highlands.

Upon arriving at Landmannalaugar, we lace up our boots and hit the trails. The scenery here is unlike anywhere else on Earth. We'll trek through the Laugahraun lava field, a jagged expanse of black glass and rock, and climb toward the base of Brennisteinsalda (the "Sulphur Wave"). This mountain is a kaleidoscope of colors - yellow from sulphur, blue from iron, and green from moss - creating a backdrop that is a dream for any photographer.

Our expert guides will lead the way, sharing stories of the geology and folklore that make this region so special. The hike is manageable for anyone with a basic level of fitness and a love for the outdoors.

Landmannalaugar is famous for its natural geothermal pool, where hot and cold water mix to create the perfect temperature for a soak. There is nothing quite like sitting in a warm river, looking up at the towering mountains you just climbed, and breathing in the fresh highland air.

Feeling refreshed and recharged, we'll board our bus for the return journey to the city. We'll traverse the highland tracks once more, arriving back in Reykjavik in the evening with incredible memories of Iceland's wild heart.
