Tour guide was fantastic! I was a bit hesitant to do a second guided tour of Pompeii as I worried I would just see the same things but he showed us different places and had different historic stories to tell. Herculaneum was well worth a visit to see the differences, especially seeing both in one day - was very humbling. Lunch stop was brilliant, so much choice and nothing touristy! Transport was excellent, small minibus and a lovely driver.

Vesuvius is magnificent, though it seemed inaccessible due to the fog. The ascent takes about 25 minutes on foot, and the descent takes about 17 minutes. Headbands and a hood are a must. 😉

Outstanding tour! We had the best guide and driver. Hit all of the highlights and learned a great deal about them as well. The guide also discussed some sights and history to look into on another leg of our vacation.

We were there at Easter and arrived as early as 9:00 AM. We didn't need the "Fast-Entry Ticket" at all, because there were very few visitors at that time. However, the audio guide is very informative and definitely worthwhile.

The tour was wonderful, in part because Herculaneum is such a remarkable site and in part because our guide, archeologist Luciano Leone, who was closely involved in the work at both Herculaneum and Pompeii, provided fascinating historical and archeological details at every turn. He has first-hand knowledge of the discoveries at Herculaneum, as well as a real gift for engaging and entertaining storytelling. This tour was really the best. Highly recommended!


