At an elevation of 3,724m, Aoraki/Mount Cook is one of New Zealand's highest peaks. Located in the heart of the stunning Mackenzie District, it was first summited in 1894 by Tom Fyfe, Jack Clarke, and George Graham, and remains a popular mountaineering destination today.
However, for the local Ngā Tahu Māori tribe, Aoraki is more than just a mountain—it is one of their ancestors. The legend of Aoraki and his brothers is one of the most important Māori stories in the South Island, explaining how the Southern Alps (Kā Tiritiri o te Moana) were formed. Today, this area has become one of New Zealand's most beautiful national parks.
Escape the city bustle from Christchurch and head south across the Canterbury Plains. Pass by the famous Fairlie Bakehouse, Lake Tekapo, and Lake Pukaki before arriving at Aoraki / Mount Cook. Here you'll witness the magnificent views of New Zealand's top glaciers like the Haupapa/Tasman Glacier, plus have opportunities to explore classic trails in the national park.
You will ride in a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter (or similar vehicle type) equipped with Wi-Fi, USB charging, and thoughtful snacks. A professional, fun, and knowledgeable guide will accompany you for an unforgettable day.
