Reviews: Lantau Island Tour: Ngong Ping 360, Tian Tan Buddha, Tai O Village & Dolphin Encounter

The day started fine except for one issue another group member had with the tour guide. There were two guides one for English and another for Mandarin. The tour is basically "a hold your finger" take through the various attractions. We were taken from the Metro Station bus stand in a public bus to the first site, the fishing village. We took the small boat for a small spin in the sea, where we could not sight any pink dolphins, but the guide did point out some features along the short cruise. The village is drab. Next we took a public bus to the Big Buddha. The guide pointed out some facts about the features of the tourist place. The temple does offer a set meal at a cost if you choose to eat there. After the meal and a quick view of the Buddha (which was in shadow and very unphotogenic), we took the cable car (good experience) to return to the Metro station, to end the tour. On the whole, this was a very average tour. The male guide should learn to smile a bit more, though. Very Dour!

Ricky was a great guide! His sense of humor gave the information and history provided a nice twist. We didn’t get the return back so that gaves us more freedom to explore at the end of the tour. We were lucky enough to see a couple of dolphins ! Totally recommend it! We we

The tour was rushed, with only a three-to-five-minute walk from Tai O town. After a vegetarian meal in Ngong Ping, the group didn't even have time to climb the 268 steps leading to the Big Buddha. The tour was supposed to end at 4 PM, but we hadn't even had enough time by 6:30 PM. However, at least we had a guide. After joining the tour, we knew which transportation to use and how long it would take to get to Tai O and Ngong Ping. The male guide was very professional and friendly, providing clear and humorous explanations of the sights. The female assistant guide gave vivid descriptions in English and Cantonese, with excellent enthusiasm and smiles. The most unique part of the tour was taking a small boat from Tai O out to international waters, offering a breathtaking view of the underground tunnel of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge artificial island. Since the tour ended early, the two of us took a bus to Yat Tung Village, stayed for over an hour, and then took a $33 taxi to Citygate Outlets in Tung Chung for shopping. About half an hour later, we took the B6 bus back to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge border crossing. We visited the four major attractions on Lantau Island that day, making the trip worthwhile.
