I thought it would be difficult to get from Aswan to Abu Simbel on my own, so I booked a tour. I was picked up at my hotel and taken to Abu Simbel. On the way back, they didn't take me back to the hotel (I was dropped off about a 10-minute walk from the hotel), but it was still a pretty good trip. The tour guide was a nice person, and he knew that a woman traveling alone from the hotel to the airport would be charged a high tourist price, so he took me to the airport for a reasonable price. This trip to Egypt made me realize how much better it is to ask the tour guide for help.

The pick-up at my hotel was on time, as was the drop-off at the desired location in Aswan. The price is very competitive, and the time spent at the site is sufficient (1.5 hours). The journey is also manageable in a morning, even with an early start (departure at 4:00 AM). Our guide, Maro, is lovely and attentive to every request. Our driver, Elary, is also very kind and drives carefully. I opted for the guided tour and I don't regret it. Ahmed's explanations were clear and made it easy to grasp the history of the site. A reliable tour agency. I highly recommend them.

This trip was incredible. You worry the long drive won’t be worth it but it is. This was the most amazing experience of my time in Egypt and easily the best site (and we saw most). Make sure to do the 7am trip as by the time you arrive at Abu Simbel the thousands of people on coaches are just leaving. We got the place to ourselves, with just a handful of people arriving at the end.


