Upon arriving at Penghu on this trip, I was informed that my return ferry had been canceled due to a typhoon. I used it from Tainan to Taoyuan. I reserved a time in advance on the official website and headed to the station. When I showed my passport and reservation number at the ticket counter, they asked if I wanted to change the time, and when I told them I was fine with leaving it as it was, they issued me a paper ticket. They spoke simple Japanese and English. The interior of the car was air-conditioned, making for a quiet and comfortable trip.

It's a good value for money, as you can get your money's worth just by traveling from Taipei to Tainan. If you're staying in Taipei and taking the Taiwan High Speed Rail, this is a must-buy. Even if you don't get a reserved seat, you can just use your passport and pass through the ticket gates and get on the unreserved seat.
