For Chinese travelers, I still recommend buying a physical roaming SIM card in China for convenience. If you're living abroad like me and have just bought a mainland China version phone, I suggest buying a physical SIM card locally. You can also buy an eSIM card changer.★

I ordered two eSIM cards. One for me and one for my wife. For some reason, the connection didn't work in China, which was disappointing at first. Then it turned out I needed to enable roaming in the SIM card settings (iPhone 17). And I got a connection in the Philippines. The reception is pretty good, you can even make video calls.
