Tour left early as everyone had turned up. Guide was great and very informative. Clear with timings and when we had to head back. Most of the stops were good, didn’t really think Varden viewpoint was good as blocked by trees but was nice with what could see. Well worth doing this tour if a cruise ship passenger.

The air in Quyang is absolutely terrible, incredibly polluted, but the Beiyue Temple, shrouded in Taoist magic, is refreshingly clean! The main attraction is the Yuan Dynasty main hall and its east and west walls' murals, traditionally attributed to Wu Daozi, but this doesn't stand up to scrutiny; they're likely Yuan-Song Dynasty works, though still well worth seeing! The surrounding stele corridors also offer many surprises, worth examining closely. However, avoid the sections covered by glass; they're crude modern imitations, practically toxic to the eyes! Overall, a great experience!
