We had a blast touring the various cities! Sam was extremely professional, curated a fun itinerary, and had great insights for the cities we visited- not to mention he served as our photographer all day long! I would do this tour with others folks again.
Reviews: Giethoorn, Afsluitdijk, Zaanse Schans Day Tour Incl Hotel Pick Up

This was a great day experience! -Simon was our guide, he was on time for the pickup, and communicates well in texts. He always explained where we were going and what we were seeing, and some best options on our free time included. - We started the day with the hotel pickup. my hotel didnt have car access so i met a block away, they were ontime, and i hopped in the van. - Our group was 8 people and 1 guide. Simon the guide, 2 american older couples, a mother and dauther americans, a single american woman, and me a canadian. -Simon said they normally go to the windmills first, and Giethoorn last, but said Giethoorn would fill up with boats in the canals when the tourist get there later, so he wanted to start with Giethoorn, so we did. The drive there was maybe a hour, but we spent the time talking mostly or with simon pointing out things on the way or explaining the day. -Giethoorn was great, we arrived and parked and walked to a boat, there was almost no one else there. he took us on a tour around the town on the boat and through the lake. When we got back into town he let us off the boat for our almost 2 hour free time in the town. I went straight for a boat rental place, 20 euros for a rental of small boat, electric, i went on a shorter route then simon took us on but it was still about 45 min boat ride around town and the lake. the Towns canals are one direction travel only, so you have to make a loop to get back. On the way back the canals started to fill up with boats, and thats when more colisions happen. The rest of the free time i spent getting lunch at the restaurant simon recommended, and watching the boats collide in the canal. -Then on to the Afsluitdijk, it was maybe another 45 min to reach from Giethoorn, but it was not noticable, we were talking again. We arrived and stopped half way to get out and view. There was 2 statues, one for the man that designed it, and one for a worker lifting stones. We could also see the pumps for the ship lock as we drove by. -Then we stopped at the Zaanse Schans tourist area. There its a small town from the old days, with a cheese production museum, a dimond museum, and wooden clogs workshop/museum (with a full demonstration of clogmaking), as well as Multiple working windmills along a river. One windmill you can enter and go on the deck. -Then we headed back to Amsterdam to drop off at pickup locations. -Also tones of wind turbines everywhere if you like to see them, at every point of this tour. Overall i liked the tour, it was a great day and i made some good memories!
