The day with Sonja and her family was one of the most beautiful experiences of my travels. We were embraced by tradition and a love for Macedonian cooking. The surrounding area, where the class takes place, is a relaxing setting outside the city. The pick up from Ohrid city was well orchestrated and made for an easy trip. The food, the food, well, it was delicious and true Macedonian cooking, just like Baba made it. We were sent home with treats as we could not eat all the food we cooked. I highly recommend this experience for more than a delicious meal, a peek into the soul of this amazing country.

Stefan picked us up from the meeting point and told us lots of interesting things along the way. Even though it was just the three of us, everything was perfectly arranged. His stories were so fun to listen to that I honestly wished the ride was a bit longer. At the winery, Mikhail welcomed us. He’s such a kind and knowledgeable person, and he shared some really cool facts about wine, rakija and gin. Thanks to him, we had a great evening. The charcuterie plate was delicious too. Great rakija, great wine, great people. What more could you want? There were also two lovely dogs, and even though I’m usually afraid of dogs, they made me feel completely at ease. The small one just wants to be loved, and the big one is calm and gentle. You can also buy their wines and rakija there, which are definitely worth it. Thank you for such a warm and memorable experience.
