The combined boat and bus tour was great. Our tour guide was Olenka and she did a very nice job discussing and answering questions from the group of about 25. We saw numerous penguins and sea loins.

The tour is divided into two parts: first, we went by speedboat to the Ballestas Islands, where we saw penguins, sea lions, and the Candelabro geoglyph. After returning to Paracas, we were picked up for the second part to the Paracas National Reserve, where we made stops at various spots to admire the scenery. At the second-to-last stop, there was an option to swim in the sea, and at the last stop, you could eat at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. The time allotted for lunch was very limited; it should have been longer. Andrea, the woman from the agency, was very kind to us throughout the entire trip—thank you!

Seeing Ballestras Islands and the wildlife was good, but we were left to wait at that dock for 1 hr while they transported the other “private tour” participants to the dock. The “bus” we were taken to the tour dock in was a dilapidated minivan with no AC or even open windows. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant. We did get an excellent view of the candelabra geoglyph. Once returned from the boat trip, we were taken on a real bus to Tambo Colorado with a total of 14 people on this tour. It’s a long ride (about 75-80 minutes), but some was through good scenery of the Ataconda desert. Tambo Colorado was good to see, and our guide was very enthusiastic. The total tour ended up being about 7-7.5 hours with no lunch or snack, although cold bottled water was provided. Overall, a good but not fabulous experience.
