This was my first time joining a group tour through Ctrip, and overall I was satisfied, except for a few minor disappointments. The itinerary was well-planned and flowed smoothly. The hotels (except for the Afang Palace Hotel in Xi'an) and the Orient Express Hotel had good facilities and services. The group meals were plentiful, and shopping and optional activities were entirely voluntary. The buses throughout the tours were clean, tidy, and comfortable, and the tour leader and local guide were both professional and dedicated.
However, the facilities at the Afang Palace Hotel in Xi'an were too outdated and did not meet five-star standards.
I suggest canceling the Turpan Grape Valley trip, as we didn't see a single grape during this season, which was a real shame.
