A fantastic experience! Both attractions are well worth visiting. Those who enjoy history and culture shouldn't miss Boyana Cathedral; it's small, but the frescoes inside are fascinating (one depicts the Last Supper, predating Leonardo da Vinci's version, with a completely different composition). Our guide, Martin, was incredibly kind and his explanations were very entertaining, like listening to a stand-up comedy routine—he really knew how to keep everyone engaged. Also, if you buy bread outside the Rila Monastery, there are three types. The best is the Traditional (middle denomination, 1 local currency). The other two are enormous, weighing a pound (750 grams)! The day before the trip, you'll receive an email with the meeting time and guide's name; arriving 10 minutes early is usually sufficient.

Overall, it was a good trip. However, Trip.com mentioned it was a day trip to Rila Monastery and Boyana Cathedral, but when we arrived at the meeting point, the local guide told us it was only Rila Monastery. Nevertheless, the overall experience was still worthwhile.

The tour started on time and was very fulfilling. We were also lucky enough to enter Boyana Church. I had booked an English audio guide for the tour, but the guide explained everything so well that I didn't need to use it and was able to fully enjoy the experience. We arrived back in Sofia around 6 PM.

Fantastic day! We left Sofia, near the Serdica metro station, at 9 am, heading to the Rila Monastery (2 hours) after a short breakfast stop for those who wanted it. - Rila Monastery, a religious site. The guided tour by Calina was very interesting, passionate, and in French 👍 You can have lunch there for a very reasonable price!!! Be aware that it can get cold quickly in the mountains, even snowing! In October, it was only 2 degrees Celsius there. Then we continued on to the thermal spa (1.5 hours). - Thermal spa: Don't forget your flip-flops/sandals, they're mandatory inside!! We only went outside because the inside is a concentrated sulfur bath, difficult to tolerate or breathe... Outside, there are numerous pools between 33 and 42 degrees Celsius, access to a sauna and steam room! There's a restaurant on site (street food). The view of the mountains is incredible. After 2.5 hours of relaxation, we headed back to Sofia! We returned around 6 pm.

Lyubo was the best tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, provided detailed explanations, and took meticulous care of each member of the group. He kindly and patiently helped me whenever there were difficult sections of the road. I was filled with gratitude. The day trip left me with wonderful memories.
