Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us around Tauranga before heading to the distillery.
However, there are no wineries open close to Tauranga any more so we had to drive to Rotorua. We picked this tour specifically because not a lot of driving was involved. We were not totally disappointed though as we were taken to the tasting room for Volcanic Hills Winery overlooking the Rotorua lake. To get there we had to use a gondola. Once up there we were treated to a tasting of about 5 different wines and an excellent charcuterie board lunch. The stop on the way back for cocktails and afternoon tea was glorious.★

This excursion was more than just a simple transfer from the cruise port to Hobbiton visitor center. Alan, our driver and guide, was very personable and accommodating. He has great knowledge of the area and shared his expertise with our group throughout the drive to Hobbiton and back. We drove by a few scenic areas near the cruise ship port, saw some fine beaches, and had stops at McLaren Falls and a nearby lake as well as a scenic overlook viewing the beautiful valley where Hobbiton can be found. All in all, it was a very scenic and informative drive into the beautiful North Island of New Zealand. It was nice to leave the driving to Alan!★

Absolutely beautiful! Being Maaori, I wasn't expecting to be "wow'd", it was more of my interest to the history of the area and to show my husband & children our culture... however, I was very blown away! The display, natural beauty, performances & food was AMAZING! I am planning to take my family 20+ to experience it with me. Very proud and this was very worth every cent! I would recommend this to every visitor and even us tangata whenua for a good evening out!
