Overall, it was pretty much the same as the itinerary. A minibus picked us up, and the sightseeing bus fare was 30 yuan per person, the same as the official price. Going to Viewpoint 2 cost 40 yuan per person; I didn't see any additional tickets being sold, but the driver said there was a 30 yuan entrance fee and a 10 yuan transportation fee inside, so it felt like a pure 40 yuan charge per person. Meals were provided at a restaurant, but you could choose not to eat there. Overall, it was okay. The driver also helped with photos and provided some explanations. If you're not driving, this is a decent option; the itinerary isn't too packed, and you don't have to wait for other travelers—that's the situation on-site. However, if driving is convenient, traveling independently would be more to your liking.

We were extremely satisfied with this trip. In particular, our driver, Mr. Li, arranged the trip with us a day in advance and arrived early the next day. Throughout the journey, he demonstrated strong safety awareness and skillful driving, and provided us with detailed explanations of the arrangements, historical and cultural aspects, and precautions for each attraction. At each attraction, he helped us collect our tickets, and for lunch, he arranged for us to enjoy delicious and authentic bamboo-tube chicken. He never rushed us, allowing us ample time to appreciate the sights and enjoy a wonderful day. The Longji Rice Terraces in October are indeed beautiful and spectacular, and highly recommended.

We were incredibly fortunate to have chosen Ctrip for our private tour of the Longji Rice Terraces, a journey of thousands of miles. We were especially lucky to have met our driver, Mr. Li! Mr. Li was extremely meticulous and attentive, with superb driving skills on the mountain roads! He not only provided a warm and detailed introduction to the scenic area but also tried his best to accommodate our requests. Because of our age, he repeatedly reminded us to be careful on the slopes and patiently accompanied us, including guiding us along the route and helping us take photos. We were deeply moved and are very grateful!

Did this as a solo traveler and honestly it made my whole Guilin trip. Hotel pickup was easy, then suddenly you're up in the mountains surrounded by terraces turned bright gold. Walking through them at sunset? Unreal. Photos don't do it justice. The two village stops are what stuck with me. Guzhuang's shaiqiu — chili, corn, grain drying on bamboo trays outside the wooden houses — was so colorful and felt genuinely lived-in, not staged. And the long-hair show in Huangluo Yao Village was way more interesting than I expected. Late September is the sweet spot: golden fields, cooler air, not too crowded. If you're in Guilin and want nature + culture + a good walk in one day, just book it.

Our driver was very nice and flexible with the schedule, allowing us to spend as long as we wanted in each location. We booked an English speaking driver but he could not speak English but he used a translation app with worked fine for communication. He also gave us good recommendations and information about the area. Beware of car sickness from the curvy roads. Also beware of chaotic driving conditions which could be seen as unsafe.
