Our guide, Liao Flin, picked us up from the hotel promptly at 9:00 AM, showed us all the sights, and was very friendly and attentive. He helped us communicate with local vendors and get the best price. He also shared information about the area. He took photos and pointed out the best spots we wouldn't have found on our own. We communicated seamlessly via WeChat. We were very pleased with the tour.

Although the driver didn't speak much English, he provided me information enough to successfully be a part of a group. I knew where we were, how long we were going to stay there. So it all was completely hassle free. The only thing was the seat in the bus completely at the back I was not very comfortable , but the driver tried to do his best to accommodate me. Further the tour was completely according to the description. Lunch was amazing. Things we saw were fantastic.

Before going to Yangshuo, I was torn between independent travel and a tour group. After some consideration, I chose the latter. Most of the negative reviews online focused on taxi fare overcharging, which a tour avoided. Aside from that, the small eight-person bus was surprisingly comfortable, with a very high roof. After picking us up, the driver took us directly to the bamboo rafting area. Before buying tickets, he double-checked which type of raft everyone would take. Following his advice, I paid an extra 60 yuan to upgrade to a two-person raft; having five people on the raft would be much more fun. The driver was very talkative, introducing various attractions and history of Guilin along the way, and was also quite humorous. On the way to the 20 RMB photo spot, there was an extra charge for crossing the river, 10 yuan round trip, but no other extra charges. We didn't get back to Guilin until 8:30 PM. I recommend getting off near Elephant Trunk Hill. I regretted not getting off; it was like a loop around the city, and they only dropped me off last, arriving at 9:30 PM… I was so annoyed…

We booked this cruise mainly as a relaxing way to get from Guilin to Yangshuo, and it ended up being a great experience. Pickup from the hotel was smooth, the driver collected our tickets for us, and we found the boat easily afterward. The boat had three floors, and we really liked staying on the smaller second deck for photos. We were lucky the weather was great for viewing the Li River mountains & the seating was comfortable and the staff on board provided great service. The buffet lunch had a good variety of food and it was nice to have a hot meal during the cruise. One thing to note: when you arrive in Yangshuo, you need to walk up a set of stairs after leaving the boat, so keep that in mind if you have large luggage and plan to stay there afterward. Would definitely recommend this for a scenic, slow-paced way to travel to Yangshuo.
