Cliff of Aval is located on the coast of Etretat and consists of a series of three naturally formed giant arched rocks, with their middle sections eroded by the sea into arched holes. From a distance, they look like an elephant standing by the sea, and the rock extending into the water on one side resembles an elephant's trunk, creating a spectacular and enchanting sight.Etretat · 16.2km from Fontenay

Falaises d'Etretat is a charming seaside town in the Seine-Maritime department of the Normandy region in France, situated on the Alabaster Coast, approx. 32 km from Le Havre. It is renowned for its spectacular chalk cliffs and natural rock arches, serving as a source of inspiration for many artists and travelers. The famous natural wonders here are the three elephant-trunk-shaped cliffs—the Porte d'Aval, the Porte d'Amont, and the Aiguille—which were formed by seawater erosion and resemble elephants dipping their trunks into the sea. Its architectural style is typical of Normandy, with stone houses featuring distinct, textured lines, densely clustered along the pebble beach. Strolling through the narrow streets, visitors can not only admire the distant blue sea but also feel the local cultural and historical heritage. Falaises d'Etretat has become one of the popular travel destinations in France due to its unique natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and long history. Whether you are a history buff or a nature explorer, you will find something to enjoy here.Etretat · 16.2km from Fontenay

This square is located between the city center and the seaside. It was rebuilt after the war, so the surrounding houses are relatively new. There are fountains and colorful lights on the square, which are very beautiful. It is a place for people to relax, and tourists can sit on the benches here and feel the rhythm of the city. Children can also play in the playground here.Le Havre · 9.5km from Fontenay

Étretat is a coastal town in the Upper Normandy region of France, often referred to as the Elephant Trunk Coast. On the coast of Étretat, the three most famous sea gates are Porte dAval, Porte dAmont, and Manneporte. The cliffs and the beaches here attracted artists such as the 19th-century French landscape painter Eugene Boudin, the realist painter Gustave Courbet, and the impressionist painter Monet to visit here.

[Honfleur] A friend who went to school in Normandy recommended this place to me, and I found that it is really good. The season for traveling is very important. For a small town to have an atmosphere, there must be people outside. Therefore, winter is more suitable for staying at home. Of course Now, it’s suitable for southerners to stay in northerners’ homes.
