Rhine Riveroriginates in the Swiss Alps and flows through the heart of Western Europe, spanning over 1,200 km.Since the 19th-century Romantic era, this area has become a romantic icon in the works of poets and painters, with its scenery of ancient castles, vineyards, and riverside towns, connecting many historic cities along its banks. Its most essential section is concentrated in the Middle Rhine Valley: dozens of ancient castles and fortresses are scattered along the banks, the reefs at the river bends hold ancient legends and poems, and vineyards are layered among the steep slate slopes, forming a magnificent natural and cultural landscape of the valley. Both banks are accompanied by walking trails and cycling paths, with numerous wine towns distributed along the way. The "Rhine in Flames" fireworks event, presented in turn by several towns along the river, has continued for many years and is a characteristic cultural event long held in this area, showcasing the rich atmosphere of the river basin.Germersheim · 2.4km from downtown

Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to board the aircraft, not only to see the deconstructed spaces like the cabin and luggage compartment, but also to walk out onto the wings for a bird's-eye view. Those interested can even take a slide from several stories high straight down to the ground. Technic Museum Speyer also houses original jet aircraft, as well as submarines and sea rescue cruisers. Heidelberg Castlestands on the hillside, overlooking the Neckar River and the red-tiled roofs of the Old Town. This Elector's palace, which dates back to the 13th century, was destroyed by war and lightning strikes, and was later preserved in its ruined state; the dilapidated towers and palace walls create a unique, weathered charm. The complex features a variety of styles: the facade of the Friedrich Building is adorned with statues of past emperors, the Ottheinrich Building is a representative example of German Renaissance architecture and houses the Pharmacy Museum inside; the underground wine cellar contains a massive wine barrel with a capacity of over 200,000 liters, crafted in 1751, as well as a figure of the court jester Perkeo; in a corner of the garden stands the Elizabeth Gate, built in 1615. The large garden at the back is open and pleasant, featuring a bust of Goethe and the Goethe Bench; the Powder Tower, leaning against the rock wall, retains the sense of a ruin after its destruction.Heidelberg · 33.4km from Germersheim

Backed by ancient castle ruins, the 18th-century Old Bridge and the bronze monkey statue span theNeckar River. Student Jail (Studentenkarzer)

Student Jail (Studentenkarzer) was a detention room at Heidelberg University used to confine students who violated university rules. Between 1778 and 1914, the university held independent judicial authority, and students who broke the rules were confined here for punishment. Detained students still attended classes during the day. The main attraction for visitors is the intricate graffiti on the interior walls: over more than a century, detained students used ink, soot, and colored chalk to draw on the walls, door frames, and even the ceiling, leaving behind numerous profile portraits, fraternity emblems, names, and poems, layered across the space—even the writer Mark Twain was impressed by it. After the facility was closed, it was preserved in its original state, furnished with the beds and desks of the past, authentically recreating the unique imprint of campus life at a 19th-century European university.Heidelberg · 33km from Germersheim

Most tour groups don't pass by here, so there are very few Chinese tourists. The museum is very large and has a collection of classic cars of various brands, motorcycles, trains, fire trucks, etc. There are also civilian aircraft, fighters, transport aircraft, including crashed fighters during World War II. Some of the aircraft can be climbed up to visit, and then slide down on the slide. It is worth visiting.

Speyer Cathedral is the largest church in Speyer. It is a bishop's cathedral, so it has a very high status in German Christianity. The entire church is very grand, especially the vaulted gallery inside. It is also a landmark building in Speyer, so don't miss it.

The Heidelberg Palace is a must see when visiting Heidelberg. To get there 🥾: you can take a cablecar from the old town. However, I would recommend to skip the queue and just enjoy the around 15min walk up. You will pass by beautiful old villas on the way. What to do 🏰: In my opinion the outside appearance of the castle is more beautiful than the inside. So it’s not worth to spend the entrance fee for a ticket inside. The garden around the castle is free to enter and has great views.

The old town of Heidelberg was not destroyed on a large scale during World War II. You can still see the old times. During the Holy Roman Empire, the princes of the empire built many towering castles and interesting cities. You must visit Heidelberg if you have the chance.

It used to be a place where students made mistakes at Heidelberg University, but it's a shame if you graduated and haven't been in prison yet. - "There are all kinds of written instructions at the entrance. The mistakes made by students are really strange, such as "scaring the piglets of villagers to wow".
