Lake Wakatipu is located on the South Island of New Zealand, and Queenstown is located on its north shore. The charming river bay is dotted with Queenstown. It is shaped like a lightning and the lake is clear. It is also a popular destination for outdoor activities in New Zealand. 1. Sky Gondola Overlook If you are in Queenstown, you can choose to take the Sky Gondola to overlook Lake Wakatipu. The Sky Gondola sits at the top of Bobt's Peak in Queenstown, a great place to overlook downtown Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the mountains beyond. 2. Steamboat cruise The TSS Earnslaw steamship cruise on Lake Wakatipu is undoubtedly one of the ways to enjoy the beautiful scenery, so that you can not only appreciate the lake and mountains more closely, but also feel the tranquility and serenity of the lake, and enjoy the shocking experience. The breathtaking scenery and the opportunity to enjoy a delicious barbecue and experience the authentic New Zealand culture. The TSS Earnslaw steamship will cross Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm (Walter Peak High Country Farm). You'll enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the ranch or dinner at Colonel's Homestead restaurant and watch a unique farm show. 3. The neighboring Gibbston Valley (Gibbston Valley) has more than 70 wineries, producing a variety of wines, especially Pinot Noir. You can sign up for AppellationCentral WineTours' daily wine tasting tour, which includes visits to 4 wineries, wine tasting, and lunch. At the end of the lake is a place called Glenorchy, the town of The Lord of the Rings. The town is very quiet, there are only sporadic tourists by the lake, and the small bridge in the lake attracts many tourists.Walter Peak · 29km from Glenorchy

Shotover Jet Queenstown

Shotover Jet Queenstown is the iconic speedboating experience in Queenstown, operating continuously in the Shotover Canyon since the 1960s and having hosted millions of travelers. It is also the only commercial speedboat company permitted to operate in this section of the canyon river. The river channel was formed by years of erosion from rapid currents, with nearly vertical rock walls on both sides enclosing the water surface. Located less than a ten-minute drive from Queenstown town center, it is now owned and operated by the local Māori tribe, Ngāi Tahu, whose ancestors once traveled this waterway to gather food and greenstone. The bright red speedboats are locally built in Queenstown, specifically designed for the canyon river. Each boat can carry over ten passengers and is powered by twin V8 engines, using jet propulsion for movement, steering, and control—allowing it to skim at speeds of nearly 90 km/h in water as shallow as approx. 10 cm. The entire experience lasts approx. 25 minutes, featuring continuous sharp turns and cliff-hugging maneuvers from the moment you depart the dock. Skilled drivers take you at high speed through whitewater rapids and tight bends, performing thrilling close-to-the-wall stunts, including the signature 360-degree spin at full throttle, sending water splashing into your face as if the boat has lifted off the surface. Life jackets and storage lockers are provided on board. As the spins generate significant splashes, it is advisable to prepare to get wet. During colder seasons, extra attention to warmth is recommended.Queenstown · 27km from Glenorchy

This is known as the place closest to heaven. It is a very simple town. Many scenes are shot here in the movie. There is also a place called paradise. Seeing the vast grassland, rivers, sheep and horses, you can feel comfortable physically and mentally.

Lake Wakatipu is the third largest lake in New Zealand. In addition to its beautiful scenery, it is also the center of New Zealand's outdoor activities. Mountain skiing, surfing, parachuting, jet boats, whitewater kayaking are all available here. The world-famous bungee jumping first emerged here.

The only downside was the lack of a sheep shearing show. The BBQ was great, and considering the price included food, it was definitely worth it. Overall, the boat trip was very relaxing, with the boat ride to the BBQ area taking about 40 minutes. It's a good option if you like a more leisurely pace of life, especially on a nice day. The only downside was the lack of a show, which made it a bit boring.

Skydiving is super fun, 15,000 feet, the free fall feels like life is free! The package comes with a handheld camera, with photos and videos. After the jump, it will be sent directly to your email for you to download. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the base.

The views here are absolutely stunning! The luge ride was so much fun, and three rides definitely weren’t enough — we could have gone for more! The lamb at the buffet was also delicious. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and definitely worth it!

We blasted through the dramatic, towering walls of the Shotover Canyons at mind-bending speeds. Skimming over water that felt mere centimeters deep and executing those famous full 360-degree spins was pure exhilaration! Our driver was an absolute master at the helm—delivering maximum heart-pounding thrill while keeping everyone feeling completely safe and secure throughout the ride. It’s an unforgettable experience to share together—equal parts breathtaking scenery and high-octane excitement. Easily one of the absolute highlights of our trip to New Zealand. 10/10 MUST DO!

Paradise Town in Glenorchy is a quiet town on the shore of Lake Wanaka. The houses here are all wooden structures, there are no tall buildings, and there are large lawns between the houses, which looks very open and quiet. The air here is very fresh, making people feel very relaxed and comfortable. It is definitely a warm and cozy town that is not in conflict with the world, and it deserves the beautiful name of Paradise Town.

The Dart River is a very calm and beautiful river in Glenorchy. On both sides of the river are towering mountains and dense forests. The river water is very clear and there are many rare fish living here. You can take a raft or bamboo raft to tour the entire river, which must be a very good travel experience.

The environment is very dreamy. I think it is worth the money. But the bad thing is that children are not allowed to enter at night. I don't know why. But overall it is still a good experience.
