The Water Temple is located in Guangsheng Temple, Hongdong County, Shanxi Province. It is a customary sacrificial temple for worshiping the God of Huoquan. It includes buildings such as Shanmen (stage of the Yuan Dynasty), Yimen, and the Hall of King Mingying.
There are nearly 200 square meters of murals from the Yuan Dynasty on the four walls of the Mingying Palace of the Water Temple. The dramatic mural on the east side of the south wall is especially famous in the world and is hailed as the third most unique cultural relic of Guangsheng Temple. It is currently the only large-scale Yuan Dynasty drama mural preserved in China. In 1998, this painting was included in the "Chinese History" textbook along with the ancient wall picture of playing ball.
