Vanalinn

Vanalinn is a remarkably well-preserved medieval city on the Baltic Sea and was once an important trading port of the Hanseatic League. In the Lower Town, centered around Raekoja plats, the Gothic Old Town Hall stands on one side of the square. St. Olaf's Church, with its spire over 100 m high, the Three Sisters houses with their three connected gables, and the Town Hall Pharmacy, which has records of operation dating back to the early 15th century, are all scattered throughout this area; a few minutes south of the square is St. Nicholas' Church & Museum, which is now a museum of religious art; the late medieval masterpiece "Danse Macabre" housed inside is particularly worth a stop. The higher Toompea Castle area, also known as the Upper Town, features the onion-domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Cathedral of Saint Mary the Virgin standing side by side, which, together with the ancient castle, outline the skyline. The medieval-style doors, windows, and hanging signs along the streets are details that many people easily miss. The preserved ancient city walls stretch for nearly 2 km, connecting one circular tower after another, offering a different perspective from the top of the wall. Walk to the Kohtuotsa and Patkuli viewing platforms on the edge of Toompea, where red-tiled roofs layer upon layer spread out toward the Baltic Sea.Tallinn · 25.3km from Keila-Joa

The Tallinn Town Hall, built in the early 14th century, is located next to Raekoja Plats, a Gothic building. Since 1530, the roof of the town hall has stood the symbol of Tallinn - the guardian Thomas, when you climb to the top, you can overlook the whole city. In June every year, it is the Old Town Festival (OldTownDays), which usually lasts for 4 days. There will be many vendors in the Town Hall and the square next to it, and several concerts, dances and medieval themed carnivals will be held.Tallinn · 25.4km from Keila-Joa

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is located on Toompea. Named after Alexander Nevsky, who defended against the Teutonic Knights' invasion in the 13th century, it was built between 1894–1900. It is the tallest and largest domed Orthodox cathedral in Tallinn, featuring distinctive "onion" domes. From here, you can overlook the entire Vanalinn and the city of Tallinn. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with mosaics and other patterns, making it well worth a visit. It also features a famous bell ensemble, consisting of 11 bells, including the largest in Tallinn, which can be heard before services.Tallinn · 25km from Keila-Joa

Vanalinn, Tallinn’s Old Town, is a beautifully preserved medieval quarter that feels like stepping into a storybook. Cobblestone streets wind past colorful merchant houses, Gothic churches, and hidden courtyards, all encircled by impressive stone walls and towers. Town Hall Square is the lively heart, perfect for soaking in the atmosphere from a cozy café. Climbing Toompea Hill offers panoramic views over red-tiled rooftops and the Baltic Sea. By day, it’s a treasure of history and architecture; by night, lantern-lit streets create a magical charm. Vanalinn is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic medieval ambiance with a vibrant modern twist.

Definitely one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe. Definitely worth seeing along with the one in Krakow. There are also some strange gargoyles.

One of the most classic buildings in Estonia Estonia is not big, Tallinn is even smaller. The whole Tallinn gives people a very good feeling. But if you want to talk about any landmarks, this church must have a name It was built in the late 19th century when Tallinn was under the rule of the Russian Empire, so it is a typical Russian style. It is also the largest and tallest Orthodox church in Tallinn.
