Patong Beach

4.6/5
6.6k reviews
Patong Beach is located on the west coast of Phuket, featuring a horseshoe-shaped bay with soft sand and clear water. As one of the most developed and popular beaches on the island, most restaurants, shops and stays are concentrated along the shoreline, offering great convenience for dining, shopping and accommodation. There are many ways to enjoy the sea here: you can sign up directly on the beach for jet ski, banana boat, windsurfing, and paragliding. The rocky areas at both ends of the bay are home to corals and schools of fish, and you can snorkel to see them with a diving mask and fins. If you prefer to stay dry, rent a lounge chair to sunbathe and watch travelers from around the world come and go. In the evening, sit on the beach and wait for a sunset over the Andaman Sea—a day here is plenty fulfilling. Behind the beach lies Patong's bustling streets, where shopping malls, massage parlors, and night market stalls stretch endlessly. After dark, Bangla Road near the southern end of the bay transforms into a pedestrian street, with neon lights, music, and vibrant bars making the night exceptionally lively—from rowdy beer bars to relatively quiet cocktail lounges. Travelers who enjoy nightlife will find it thoroughly enjoyable. A few reminders: Phuket has strong winds and waves during the rainy season. Do not enter the water when red flags are raised on the beach, and try to swim only in the area between red and yellow flags. Negotiate the price and inspect the condition before renting water equipment like jet skis. To avoid crowds, head to the northern part of the bay, which is relatively quieter. Overall, this place suits travelers who prefer convenient amenities and a lively atmosphere, while those seeking a tranquil island experience can use it as a base for daytime sea activities.Thailand · Phuket

Old Phuket Town is the main urban area of Phuket Province and an important center for local life, commercial activity, and cultural exchange. Unlike the areas on the west coast of Phuket, which are dominated by beaches and resort hotels, this area is characterized by its traditional neighborhoods, unique architecture, local cuisine, and everyday street atmosphere. The architecture here blends Chinese and European design elements, featuring common arched doors and windows, decorative facades, shutters, and covered walkways, many of which have now been converted into cafes, restaurants, galleries, homestays, and specialty shops. The local culinary culture is also quite distinctive, where you can taste local foods such as Hokkien-style fried noodles and curry rice noodles, reflecting the fusion of Southern Thai and Chinese culinary traditions.Thailand · Phuket

This was a beautiful beach, although there are many boat taxis coming and going there is still more than enough space to swim. The water is a beautiful pale blue color and makes for some amazing photos.

Pattaya Beach is the largest beach on Koh Lipe. The sand here is as white as snow, and the sea water changes from blue to green and is very clean. This is also the place where many newlyweds hold beach weddings. This romantic wedding ceremony is performed almost every day, which is worth seeing.

I really enjoyed my time at Patong Beach. The beach has a lively atmosphere, and there was always something happening, from people playing in the water to vendors selling snacks and drinks. The sand was clean enough for relaxing, and the sea was warm, although it could get crowded during the afternoon. I stayed until sunset, and the view was beautiful with the sky changing to shades of orange and pink. After that, I walked around the nearby streets where there were plenty of restaurants, shops, and places to enjoy the evening. It was convenient because everything was within walking distance. If you prefer a quiet beach, this may not be the best choice, but if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with lots of activities, Patong Beach is definitely worth visiting. I would happily come back for another relaxing evening by the sea.

It's very close to the main island; on a clear day, it takes about half an hour by boat. The white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters are perfect for snorkeling with lots of small fish, and the sunsets are absolutely stunning. To see the sunset, you have to stay on the island!

The hot white sand made a crackling sound when I stepped on it, and the waves filled my swimsuit with sand. I went to the night market to eat grilled squid as soon as the stalls were set up, and ate banana pancakes while walking in the smoke and fire. Tiger prawns as big as my palm were lying on the ice at the seafood stall, and they were bright red under the charcoal fire. I didn't care about the prickly shells. When I squatted on the plastic stool to eat the skewers, the sand hurt my teeth, but the pineapple chunks dipped in hot sauce were so sweet that it saved my life. On the way back to the hotel, I carried a half-melted mango smoothie with my hands full of sticky sugar water.

Wat Chalong, is the largest Buddhist temple on Phuket. The largest pagoda is 61.4 meters high and contains the relics of Phra Borom Sareerikatat and a Buddha statue enshrining 108 golden Buddhas. The pagoda combines the architectural styles of southern, central and northeastern Thailand and is the first place in the region to house this holy relic.
