Zhalong Ecotourism Area

Zhalong Ecotourism Area is located over 30 km southeast of Qiqihar city. It is one of the world's largest reed wetlands and the homeland of red-crowned cranes. The red-crowned crane is an endangered bird species, with fewer than 2,000 remaining worldwide. From March to October each year, about 400 red-crowned cranes migrate to Zhalong Wetland near the observation deck for breeding and resting. Here, visitors can admire the graceful figures of these cranes—either soaring in flight or wading through reeds in search of food. Every year, numerous photography enthusiasts come to capture these beautiful scenes. The crane flight training is a signature attraction of the scenic area, with approximately 20-30 red-crowned cranes participating in each session. You'll see a group of red-crowned cranes in the distance begin their takeoff run and flight under the guidance of handlers waving poles, circling briefly in the air before returning to the training area. Since the training area is some distance from the crane observation deck, photography enthusiasts should prepare telephoto lenses to capture spectacular shots. In addition to red-crowned cranes, you can also spot rare birds like Siberian cranes, hooded cranes, white-naped cranes, and demoiselle cranes here. The red-crowned crane flight training lasts only about 2 minutes, so be sure to arrive early. June to September is the best time to observe cranes, as there are more red-crowned cranes during this period. Some red-crowned cranes no longer migrate, so you can still see a few cranes in winter, though rarely. The reserve is a reed wetland with crisscrossing waterways, scattered lakes and marshes, and long wooden boardwalks built over the water. The attraction is quite large, and a full visit usually takes half a day. From the entrance to the crane observation area, there is a long stretch that can be covered by shuttle bus. The round-trip fare is CNY 10 per person. Board directly after ticket inspection and get off in front of the reception hall, then walk 2 km (about 30 mins) to reach the flight training platform. Upon arrival at the attraction, it is advisable to check the flight training schedule first. If pressed for time, you can take electric bikes directly to the terminal station, then walk approx. 20 minutes to the crane release boardwalk to await the flight training. In case of special weather conditions (such as strong winds, rain, high temperatures, or other force majeure factors), the flight training may be less effective or canceled. You can also take a cruise (CNY 50 per person, approx. 20 minutes) through the reed marshes within the attraction, with the terminal point at the crane release boardwalk.Qiqihar · 47.6km from Lindian

Siberia Tiger Park

Due to the deteriorating habitat of wild Siberian tigers, in 1986 the Chinese government established the China Hengdaohezi Feline Breeding Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") in Hengdaohezi Town, Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province, to protect the endangered Siberian tiger. This is China's first captive breeding base primarily focused on the off-site protection of Siberian tigers, marking the beginning of nearly four decades of captive breeding and scientific research on tiger protection. In 1996, to better protect these tigers, the Center established the Heilongjiang Siberia Tiger Park in Harbin. By developing the tourism and viewing value of Siberian tigers, it supports the protection, scientific research, and rewilding training of Siberian tigers through a "tigers support tigers" approach. Heilongjiang Siberia Tiger Park is located on the north bank of the Songhua River, covering an area of approximately 1.44 million square meters. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Currently, the park is the largest captive breeding base for Siberian tigers in the country, with about 700 purebred Siberian tigers. It is a comprehensive enterprise integrating Siberian tiger breeding, scientific research and protection, science education, and tourism. The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger, is the largest living feline. Adult Siberian tigers are 1.2-2 meters long, with a tail about 1 meter long, and weigh 100-200 kilograms, sometimes reaching around 320 kilograms. They are mainly distributed in Northeast China and Siberia, Russia. The Siberian tiger has a large, round head with several black horizontal stripes on its forehead, often connected in the middle, resembling the Chinese character "王" (wang, meaning king). Its summer fur is short and dark, brownish-yellow, while its winter fur is long and light, yellow or pale yellow. Its back and sides have many horizontal black stripes, often two close together in a willow-leaf shape. Its ears are short and round, black on the back with a white patch in the center. The chin, abdomen, and inner sides of the limbs are nearly white, and the tail has black rings with a black tip. Its thick fur can withstand temperatures as low as -45°C. Siberian tigers inhabit forests, shrublands, and areas overgrown with wild grasses. They are solitary, have no fixed dens, exhibit territorial behavior, and are mostly active in the evening or at dusk. They have keen senses, are fierce by nature, move swiftly, and are good swimmers. They prey on medium and large mammals, and occasionally eat small mammals and birds. The Siberian tiger is a flagship species in the ecosystem and a nationally protected animal. With its unique majestic posture and presence, it brings people joy and the enjoyment of returning to nature. Protecting the Siberian tiger is a need for the harmonious coexistence and sustainable development of humanity and nature, and it is also a concrete manifestation of practicing the concept of ecological civilization construction.China · Harbin

Harbin Sightseeing Cableway starts from Tongjiang Square in the south and reaches Sun Island Scenic Area in the north. It spans the Songhua River and is a well-known sightseeing means of transportation. The total length of the cableway is 1,156 meters, and the cableway bracket in the middle of the river is more than 70 meters away from the river. Riding in the car can overlook the panoramic view of both sides of the Songhua River, and the scenery is endless. Harbin Sightseeing Cableway is one of Harbin's key projects that was built and constructed with a huge investment in 1997. It introduced equipment from the world's senior ropeway equipment company, Austrian Doppelmayr Company, and ranks among the high-end international ropeways today. The cableway is adjacent to Stalin Park, the Flood Control Memorial Tower, and Central Street. It is like a jade belt that closely connects the two sides of the Songhua River. The ropeway is equipped with 19 fully automatic and fully enclosed 8-person high-end gondolas and 6 luxury gondolas. The gondolas have built-in sofas, bar counters and speakers, which are comfortable, elegant, warm and romantic. The ropeway runs at a speed of 1-5 meters per second, and it is fast and slow. You can enjoy the northern scenery and urban customs while strolling around, and the scenery "everywhere you go" is endless. So far, the ropeway has been in operation for more than 20 years, and its safety factor has reached 100%.China · Harbin

It is located at the confluence of the Jinsha River, Minjiang River and Yangtze River. It is also the first park of the Yangtze River. There is a "water-friendly" leisure trail. You can swim. I saw many people in the river. I am not good at swimming, so I dare not go down. When you open the window, you can see the scenery. When you open the door, you can see the green. When you go out and enter the park, the green water and green mountains outline a beautiful ecological picture of Yibin.

The shuttle bus ticket is a must-buy because the main gate is really far away. It seems like it's essential, especially since you have to walk a long way after getting off the shuttle. There's a speedboat that goes directly there, but it's unnecessary. Although the walk is tiring, the scenery is beautiful, and you can see several red-crowned cranes strolling along the roadside every now and then.

A beautiful place filled with stunning ice sculptures illuminated by colourful lights. I had such a wonderful time exploring the place, although the temperature was extremely cold. However, getting a Didi ride back at night was very difficult, so I had no choice but to take the bus instead.

After visiting the Tiger Park, we took a taxi to Sun Island and then prepared to take the cable car back to our hotel across the river. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many tourists, and we got on without queuing. When the cable car reached its highest point, the panoramic view of Sun Island, the Songhua River, and the city was breathtaking. We even saw a flock of seagulls! A trip to Harbin definitely includes taking the cross-river cable car at least once.
