SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium is located at Darling Harbour in Sydney and features marine life native to Australia. The aquarium houses multiple interactive themed zones, showcasing hundreds of aquatic species from marine and freshwater environments across Australia, including many iconic species unique to the country. Shark Valley is one of the aquarium's core exhibition areas, where visitors can walk through a transparent underwater tunnel with nurse sharks, wobbegongs, and giant smooth rays swimming slowly overhead. The Penguin Expedition area is home to king penguins and gentoo penguins; visitors can ride a small boat through simulated sub-Antarctic ice and snow, observe penguins up close on the ice and in the water, and watch the keepers feed the penguins several times a day. The Day and Night Coral Reef exhibition area is themed around the 24-hour ecological changes of the Great Barrier Reef, using interactive technology to present the different life dynamics of the coral reef between day and night; it is home to the Napoleon fish—a peculiar reef fish that can change from female to male as it grows. The Southern Coast Shipwreck area is home to little penguins, and these tiny penguins darting through the water and waddling on the sand are much loved by visitors. The aquarium is also home to a rescued dugong, one of the few captive dugongs in the world. In addition, areas such as Jurassic Seas and the Rocky Shore Touch Pool each have their own distinctive features; in the touch pool area, visitors can explore intertidal creatures such as starfish, sea cucumbers, and crabs. For visitors seeking a deeper experience, the aquarium also offers programs such as shark diving, where you can swim alongside large marine life such as nurse sharks and rays in a cage-free environment.Sydney · 11.1km from Manly

WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo

1k reviews
WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is located in Darling Harbour, adjacent to SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Madame Tussauds Sydney. It is a rare compact zoo in Sydney's city center, primarily featuring indoor exhibits focused on native Australian wildlife. The layout follows a single path, allowing visitors to explore the entire zoo in about two hours. Here, you can see five iconic Australian animals: kangaroos, koalas, wombats, platypuses, and crocodiles. The zoo is divided into themed zones based on natural habitats: the Kangaroo Walkabout is an open area where you can observe western grey kangaroos up close; Koala Rooftop is the zoo's highlight, offering not only regular viewing but also opportunities to book photo sessions inside the koala enclosure or join a koala breakfast experience during their active morning feeding time. The Devil Den houses the loud, powerful-jawed Tasmanian devils, an endangered marsupial species now mainly found in Tasmania. The Daintree Rainforest zone features southern cassowaries, musky rat-kangaroos, and satin bowerbirds. Patience is needed at the Platypus Pool, as these egg-laying mammals often hide among underwater branches. The Nightfall area simulates nighttime conditions, where nocturnal creatures like sugar gliders and bilbies become active. Other sections include the freshwater crocodile billabong, zones for echidnas and Goodfellow's tree kangaroos, and insect displays with spiders, stick insects, and giant snails, alongside reptiles like snakes and lizards. During your visit, check the keeper talk schedules—many animals, from wombat "Ringo" to cassowary "Princess," have dedicated sessions where caretakers share fun facts about their behaviors. After exploring, Darling Harbour's restaurants and waterfront views are just a short walk away, making it ideal for a half-day urban itinerary. △ Get up close with adorable koalas △ Watch adorable quokkas △ Meet the giant saltwater crocodileSydney · 11.1km from Manly

Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge spans across Sydney Harbour, connecting the city center on the south shore with the north shore, and faces the Sydney Opera House to the east across the water. The iconic duo appears in almost every Sydney postcard. This steel arch bridge, completed in 1932, is majestic: its main arch spans over 500 m, with the arch crown standing more than 130 m above sea level. The approximately 50 m-wide deck accommodates train tracks, car lanes, a bicycle path, and a pedestrian walkway, remaining a vital urban thoroughfare to this day. There are many ways to experience the bridge: you can drive or take a train across it, pass underneath on a sailing boat or ferry, or choose the leisurely option of walking across. The pedestrian walkway is on the eastern side, accessible via stairs from the Rocks or the north shore, while the bicycle path is on the western side. When reaching the south shore, don't miss the tower at the southeastern corner. Climb its roughly 200 steps to the observation deck for a level view of the steel arch and a panoramic harbor vista. The tower also houses an exhibition on the bridge's construction history. For a closer encounter with the sky, join the bridge climb experience: suit up in the provided gear and follow the guide along the arch ribs to the summit. Millions have completed this climb since its inception, with each offering unique views—dawn, daylight, dusk, and night. Gazing down at the Opera House and the entire Sydney Harbour from the top is a highlight for many travelers. On New Year's Eve, the bridge becomes the backdrop for the city's fireworks display, with prime viewing spots along both shores in high demand.Sydney · 9.3km from Manly

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney was established in 1816 and is located on the shores of Farm Cove on the eastern side of Sydney city center, adjacent to the Sydney Opera House. The park spreads along the bay, with waterfront paths connecting various themed gardens. The silhouettes of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House follow you along the way, making it a prime spot for capturing classic photos of Sydney. Most visitors enter from the Opera House side and walk east along the waterfront to Mrs Macquarie's Chair at the end of the park. Standing by Mrs Macquarie's Chair, you get the postcard-perfect angle of the Opera House and the bridge together, which is especially photogenic in the soft light of early morning and evening. Visitors who love plants can explore further: the rose garden is fragrant during the blooming season, while the succulent garden, fernery, and herb garden each have their own charm. The palm grove area preserves old trees planted as early as 1828, and you can even find the Wollemi pine, known as a living fossil, in the garden. The glass greenhouse named The Calyx features a green wall that is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing plants with different themes year-round. The park also offers ongoing cultural tours led by local guides, which cover both the plants and the history of the Indigenous people's connection to this bay. Not far from the park exit are the State Library of New South Wales and Parliament House, both of which are impressive and striking buildings, perfect for a quick photo stop. The entire park is easy to explore and perfect for a morning jog or spending half a day relaxing on a picnic blanket. Many visitors include this in the same itinerary as the Opera House.Sydney · 9.7km from Manly

The theater isn't very large, so the view from the second floor was excellent, and the actors' performances were very lifelike, with very interesting dialogue. Plus, the theater has a beautiful terrace with floor-to-ceiling windows; I took some lovely photos there in the afternoon!

Taronga Zoo is definitely worth a visit! The zoo is very well planned, with so many animals to see. It’s a great place for international visitors to discover Australia’s unique wildlife, including wallabies and koalas. The giraffe area is a must-visit, with a beautiful city views, like zootopia. We had such a fun time exploring the zoo! It's a great place for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Highly recommended!

Amazing whale-watching experience in Sydney! 🐋I really enjoyed this experience from start to finish. The scenery and the whole environment were absolutely beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see a lot of whales! It was amazing watching them in their natural environment, and the experience was even better than I expected. Definitely a great activity to do while visiting Sydney, and I would happily recommend it to others!

We visited the Sydney Tower Eye with my family and had a fantastic time. Booking our tickets through Trip.com was very easy, and there were a lot of different options available to choose from. I highly recommend going on a sunny day so you can get the most out of the views. Looking down at Hyde Park and the Anzac Memorial was a definite highlight. Highly recommended!

You can visit the zoo even if it rains. It's very clean and has koalas, kangaroos, various reptiles, and a variety of birds. It's quite close to the W Hotel. You can also explore Daling Island nearby.

I always check other people's reviews before each trip for reference and then add my own. Although it was peak season, the crowds weren't large at all, not even comparable to those in China. Just arrive 10-15 minutes before the cruise departure time; e-ticket verification is very quick. You can see the opera house, the harbor bridge, and the coastal residential areas, etc. It's definitely worth a visit!

With its rich history, diverse plant collections, and breathtaking waterfront scenery, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and travelers.

I would rate this trip as a must-see in Sydney. The weather was fantastic the day we took the Big Bus. We enjoyed many views from the second floor, riding the bus around the entire city center. We saw many cityscapes and cultural moments that are impossible to experience by public transport. The entire tour had a Chinese-speaking guide, with explanations at every point in the city in Chinese, allowing us to learn a lot about Sydney that we couldn't have explored on our own. The red line in the city center was excellent, but the blue line was slightly less impressive. The coastal area wasn't very extensive, and the wind was incredibly strong that day; sitting on the second floor, we were practically blown around like idiots, and there weren't many particularly noteworthy views.
