Mount Hua, known as the "Western Great Mountain" in ancient times, is one of China's Five Great Mountains. Located in Huayin, Shaanxi Province, it is also elegantly called "Taihua Mountain." The "Hua" in both "Zhonghua" and "Huaxia" originates from this mountain. "Steep and perilous" are the essence of Mount Hua's scenery, and the saying "there has always been only one path up Mount Hua" precisely describes its steepness—the Plank Road in the Sky, the Sparrowhawk Turn, the Thousand-Foot Precipice, the Hundred-Foot Gorge, the Laojun Plow Ditch, and other perilous sights leave every visitor awestruck. The Mount Hua attraction covers a vast area, including the main peak attraction, the Western Great Mountain Temple attraction, and the Xianyu attraction, among which the main peak attraction is the core, encompassing the five main peaks—east, south, west, north, and center—as well as the classic "Mount Hua Valley" climbing trail. The five main peaks each have their own distinctive features. The East Peak, at an elevation of approx. 2,100 m, has the open and expansive Chaoyang Terrace at its summit, making it an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, and is therefore also known as Chaoyang Peak; the natural stone patterns on the cliff face along the side of the peak resemble a giant palm print—this is the Huayue Immortal Palm, listed since ancient times as one of the Eight Views of Guanzhong. The West Peak, at an elevation of approx. 2,080 m, is named Lotus Peak because the giant rock at its summit resembles a lotus flower; the Cuiyun Palace, the Axe-Split Rock, and the Self-Sacrifice Cliff are scattered across it, and the myth of Chenxiang splitting the mountain to save his mother is said to have originated here. The South Peak, at an elevation of over 2,150 m, was called the "head of Mount Hua" by the ancients; it consists of two summits—Songgui Peak and Luoyan Peak—with a sheer cliff dropping straight down on one side. The North Peak, at an elevation of approx. 1,600 m, is also known as Yuntai Peak; it stands isolated and towering with precipitous drops on all four sides, and the story of "Taking Mount Hua by Strategy" took place here; the peak features views such as the Zhenwu Hall and the Jiaogong Stone Chamber. The Central Peak lies at the center of the East, West, and South Peaks, with serene and lush vegetation; on the peak is the Jade Maiden Shrine, said to be the place where Nongyu, daughter of Duke Mu of Qin during the Spring and Autumn period, cultivated herself, hence it is also known as Jade Maiden Peak. The Plank Road in the Sky is located on the mountainside east of the South Peak. It was built by the Yuan Dynasty Taoist He Zhizhen, who embedded stone stakes into the cliff face and laid wooden planks. At the end of the plank road, visitors can see Hezu Cave, where he cultivated himself. Visitors must press close to the cliff, hold the iron chains, and step on the wooden planks while moving sideways slowly—an extremely thrilling experience. The ridge of Canglong Ridge is as narrow as a blade, flanked by bottomless chasms, and walking on it makes one's heart race and vision blur. Golden Lock Pass is the vital gateway to the East, West, South, and Central peaks. Taoists believe that passing through this pass marks entry into a fairyland, and there is a folk saying: "Once past Golden Lock Pass, you enter another realm."Huayin · 8.6km from downtown

Mount Hua South Peak, at an altitude of 2,160.8 m, is the highest peak of Mount Hua. It has one peak with two summits. The east summit is Songgui Peak, named for the many pine and cypress trees growing there. The west summit is Mount Hua South Peak, the highest point here. It is said that because the mountain is so high, wild geese cannot fly over it and must rest here, hence the name. Upon reaching the top, you can gaze into the distance with all other mountains beneath your feet. Overlooking the Loess Plateau and the Weihe Plain, you can see the Yellow River, Jing River, and Wei River, which fills one with a sense of pride and allows you to truly appreciate the majestic and towering grandeur of Mount Hua, enjoying the magical feeling of being in heaven and walking on clouds. At the top is Laojun Cave, where it is said that Laozi, the founder of Taoism, lived in seclusion. On the rocks at the high point of the summit are the two large characters "Zhenyuan." In addition, there are Laozi Peak, the Alchemy Furnace, and the Bagua Pool. These attractions are all related to the legends of Laozi. To the north of Laojun Cave is Taishang Spring, which flows east into the ravine and is now called "Yangtian Pool," with spring water that remains green all year round. Below the cliff to the east is the "Nantian Gate" stone archway. There is also the Baidi Temple, built during the Ming Dynasty and also known as the Baidi Shrine, which is dedicated to Shaohao, the god of Mount Hua.Huayin · 10km from downtown

Yuquanyuan is located at the foot of Huashan Mountain. It is the main place for Taoist activities in Huashan Mountain and a must-go place for tourists to visit Huashan Mountain from Huashan Valley. Legend has it that when Chen Tuan played chess with Zhao Kuangyin on Huashan Mountain, Zhao Kuangyin lost Huashan Mountain to Chen Tuan and exempted him from taxes. Since then, many Taoists have come here to practice. Yuquanyuan is a garden building with Huashan Mountain on its back and towering ancient trees around it. There is a spring in the courtyard with sweet and clear spring water. According to legend, Princess Jinxian of the Tang Dynasty drew water from the Jade Well of Zhenyue Palace on the mountain to wash her hair. She accidentally dropped her jade hairpin into the water. After returning to Yuquanyuan, she accidentally found the jade hairpin when washing her hands with spring water. She knew that this spring was the same as the Jade Well, so she named this spring Yuquan. Yuquanyuan got its name from this. There is Xiyi Temple in Yuquanyuan, and its name comes from the title of "Mr. Xiyi" given to Chen Tuan by Emperor Taizong of Song Dynasty. Xiyi Temple is divided into two halls, the front hall and the back hall. On the left side of the front hall is the "Huashan Complete Map Stele", and on the right side is the "First Mountain" stele handwritten by Song Dynasty calligrapher Mi Fu. There is a statue of Chen Tuan in the back hall. Shansun Pavilion was built on a large stone. It is said that Chen Tuan often watched the mountain scenery and wrote books here. There is an ancient tree next to the pavilion, named Wuyou Tree, which is said to be planted by Chen Tuan. The back hall is the main activity place of Huashan Taoism. On the door hangs a plaque with the words "Tao Chong Qing Miao" written by Empress Dowager Cixi. There is an "Itchy Tree" in the middle. Once this tree is touched, the whole tree will tremble.Huayin · 4.6km from downtown

The West Peak Taihua Cableway is truly a highlight of Mount Hua, and calling it an aerial roller coaster is no exaggeration 🚡 The entire ride takes about 20 minutes, traversing over 4,000 meters diagonally, hugging the granite cliffs with a sheer drop below. On a clear day, the views are breathtaking, and when you encounter a sea of clouds, the atmosphere is simply ethereal. The upper station is carved directly into the West Peak, and the exit is right at Lotus Peak, saving you hours of arduous climbing and allowing you to save your energy for the South Peak and the Plank Road in the Sky. Passing over the support structure, you'll experience a slight swaying and a feeling of weightlessness—thrilling yet safe, and perfect for taking amazing photos. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Mount Hua!

The hotel is right next to the Xiyue Temple, about a 20-minute walk from Huashan North Railway Station, and a taxi to the Huashan Visitor Center costs around 10 yuan. Shopping and dining are also very convenient. The first floor is a bathhouse, and the second floor is for accommodation. Guests can enjoy free showers; a hot bath after climbing Huashan is incredibly relaxing. The only downside is that the hotel facilities are a bit old, but overall it offers excellent value for money.

Lotus Peak boasts stunning scenery and a rich cultural heritage. Hiking along Qinglong Back is easy, with breathtaking views of towering cliffs on both sides and panoramic vistas of surrounding mountains. The legends surrounding Cuiyun Palace and Axe-Split Stone carry auspicious meanings.

The plank road is surrounded by cliffs above and below, and is made of wooden boards and stone slabs more than 30 cm wide. There is a deep abyss below, and there is only an iron rope as a handhold. Visitors need to face the wall and move forward horizontally by stepping on wooden rafters. It is listed as one of the ten most terrifying cliff trails in the world. It can bring strong visual impact and psychological challenges to tourists. It is an excellent choice for brave people to challenge themselves and pursue excitement.

Once you take the cable car up to the North Peak of Mount Hua, it's not far to the summit. President Chiang Kai-shek and Marshal Zhang Xueliang once took photos here. From the North Peak, you can see the other four peaks: East, West, North, and Central. The North Peak is shaped like a gold ingot and is very magnificent!

The free, thousand-year-old Taoist temple at the foot of Mount Hua combines the elegance of southern gardens with the grandeur of northern landscapes. Attractions such as Jade Spring Pool, the Seventy-Two-Window Corridor, and the Sleeping Statue of Chen Tuan are rich in legends. Climbing the pavilion, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the North Peak of Mount Hua.

Mount Hua, located in Huayin, Shaanxi Province, is the westernmost of the Five Sacred Mountains and is renowned as "the most precipitous mountain under heaven." The scenic area consists of five peaks: East, West, South, North, and Central. Visitors can challenge themselves on perilous paths such as the Plank Road in the Sky and the Hawk's Turn, or climb the East Peak to watch the sunrise. A recommended one-day tour route is "Westward ascent, Northward descent," which is less strenuous and offers panoramic views.

It's my first time to experience this hotel. The facilities are complete. There are seven function pools, including fruit bath, vinegar bath, lavender bath, tea bath, red wine bath, hydrotherapy, slate bath, jasmine, etc. The staff provided good service, especially Meng Yingli, who was enthusiastic and attentive in service, and served tea and water to tourists. I like it.
