Canada Place is a Vancouver landmark located in downtown Vancouver. Formerly a terminal for the Canadian Pacific Railway, construction began in 1983 and opened in 1986 as the Canadian Pavilion at the Vancouver World Expo. Designed by Eberhard Rudler, the building's distinctive design features five fiberglass sails atop a ship, resembling a sailing ship and bearing similarities to the Sydney Opera House. Within, the complex serves as a major cruise terminal for British Columbia's South Shore, departing from here for cruises to Alaska. As a vibrant tourist destination integrating leisure, experiences, and services, it boasts numerous must-see attractions. "Flyover Canada," Canada's only 4D flight simulator, offers visitors an immersive experience of flying across Canada.Vancouver · 4.6km from North Vancouver

Gastown is located in the northeast corner of downtown Vancouver and is the city's birthplace. The city's development here was closely linked to late 19th-century port trade and railway construction, and the neighborhood retains many historic buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Buildings along the street are mostly brick and stone, with common Victorian Italianate and Edwardian commercial architecture. Facades are typically narrow and tall, with shops often occupying the ground floor. Street paving, cast-iron decorative lamps, brick buildings, and street-facing shop windows together create a recognizable urban view.Vancouver · 5km from North Vancouver

Granville Island was once an industrial manufacturing area filled with factories and warehouses. After its transformation, it has become a waterfront district that brings together food, art, and handicrafts. Today, the island is home to numerous artist studios, galleries, theaters, and marinas. The rugged character of the old industrial buildings blends with the vibrant atmosphere of creative shops, and the laid-back pace perfectly reflects the local Vancouver lifestyle. There is a public house on the island serving small-batch craft brews that you can only find here, so if you get tired from walking, why not sit down and savor one. Taking a small ferry from downtown to the island is an interesting experience in itself, as the trip across the water takes just a few minutes.Vancouver · 7.2km from North Vancouver

Chinatown

Chinatown is one of the oldest and largest in Canada, formed in the 1880s when Chinese workers settled in the area, and it has continued for over a century. The main street, Pender Street, is lined with dense, old-style buildings, and walking through it creates the illusion of being in a traditional South China market street. Most buildings in the area are two to four stories high, arranged closely along the street, and interspersed with alleys, back lanes, and internal courtyards. The architecture generally features a blend of Chinese and Western styles, with notable features including deep-recessed balconies, strong vertical lines, high-ceilinged ground floors, and mezzanines.Vancouver · 5.2km from North Vancouver

Lions Gate Bridge spans the First Narrows of Burrard Inlet, connecting downtown Vancouver to North Vancouver and West Vancouver on the North Shore, and has been a landmark gateway to the city since its completion in 1938. A pair of concrete lion statues stand on either side of the southern entrance, echoing the bridge's name. It is approx. 1.5 km long, with three traffic lanes and pedestrian and bicycle paths on both sides. Its simple steel structure, suspension cables, and symmetrical towers create a distinct architectural silhouette that blends with the waters of the First Narrows and the surrounding mountainous environment.Vancouver · 5.2km from North Vancouver

Queen Elizabeth Park is the highest point in Vancouver, spanning over 50 hectares. It was formerly a quarry, but after operations ceased, it was transformed into an urban garden known for its horticulture. The quarry pit was converted into a sunken quarry garden, which connects with the arboretum, rose garden, and various flower beds, offering blooms throughout the year. Its summit features an open plaza, and from the viewing platform, you can see the city skyline, English Bay, and the snow-capped mountains of the North Shore on a clear day. The Seasons in the Park restaurant, located on the high ground, offers expansive views with the city lights visible after dark, making it a great place to sit and dine after exploring the park.Vancouver · 9.2km from North Vancouver

Gastown Steam Clock

128 reviews
Gastown Steam Clock is a highly recognizable landmark in the old district. It features four clock faces and a bronze base, and a set of brass steam whistles stands atop the clock. You can also see the small steam engine inside through the glass on the side of the base. Every quarter hour, the whistles atop the clock use steam to play the Westminster Quarters, and it releases a puff of white steam on the hour. As the whistles sound and white steam rises, standing beneath the clock feels like stepping back into the steam age. Today, it is driven by a small electric motor, while steam from the underground network is primarily used for the whistles.Vancouver · 4.9km from North Vancouver

There are clothing stores and cosmetics stores of major chain brands here. The brands are very complete. Girls who love shopping must not miss this place. There are also various souvenir shops, personalized bookstores and record stores, which are also suitable for literary and artistic young people to visit here. The aroma of coffee permeates the whole street, and the boutique cafes and coffee cups in people's hands fully reflect the city's love for coffee, and with a dessert, it feels very comfortable.Vancouver · 5.7km from North Vancouver

Strolling beneath the white sail-shaped roofs of Canada Place, I felt like I was sailing in the harbor! The five-sail building reflecting the shimmering waters of the bay was so stunning that I couldn't help but snap a dozen photos from different angles. Walking along the wooden walkway, watching seaplanes take off and land and seagulls fight over fries was truly captivating. I also stopped by the FlyOver Canada experience center, where the 4D flight simulator over the snow-capped mountains was incredibly realistic! The evening sun painted the harbor a molten hue. I sat on the steps, munching on ice cream and watching the cruise ships arrive and depart, lost in thought for an hour. My only complaint was the strong wind that tangled my hair—but that's Vancouver's effortless charm, huh?

Gastown has many pretty stores and cafes.but there are lots of homeless wandering around this area. Don’t walk around at late night. When you keep following down the Water street, you can see the steam clock and lots of designer’s stores and beautiful brunch cafes.

I can’t say enough about this gorgeous Island Canada has to offer. Granville Island is a peninsula and shopping center in the Fairview neighbourhood of Vancouver, Canada, across from False Creek.

Vancouver's commercial, cultural, and economic center is full of tall buildings, and the mountain and sea scenery is a plus. The city center is home to Robson Shopping Street, Michelin restaurants, cafes, art galleries, gift shops and other shops. With convenient transportation, it is a must-visit place for sightseeing, leisure and experiencing the vitality of Vancouver.

It is the largest urban park with green plants and flowers in Vancouver, and is also a popular location for wedding photos. In 1993, it was the venue for a meeting between US President Clinton and Russian President Yeltsin.

Surprisingly, it blends in so well with the cityscape that I almost walked right past it, but when I saw it, I was so impressed by how lifelike it was. It's beautifully made and makes the sound of steam every 30 minutes. If you're lucky, you'll be able to hear it, so be sure to check it out✨

Now, in the several blocks west of Granville Street, there are shopping malls such as Eaton's and many brand-name stores. You can also see roadside cafes with tables on the street. There is also a fast food restaurant in the basement of Robson Square at the intersection with Howe Street. At lunch time, it will be crowded with people eating and shopping.

Standing on the top of the park, you can see downtown Burnaby and the mountains in the distance, as well as downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge. The park is rich in vegetation, and you can smell the fresh air of the pine forest while walking along the forest trails. The park is famous for the Kamui Mintara sculptures created by Japanese sculptor Nuburi Toko and his son, which symbolize the harmonious unity of humans, animals, nature and God. The sculpture group consists of 29 hand-carved logs with animal images such as brown bears, owls, salmon and killer whales engraved on them.
