Hill of Crosses is a pilgrimage site 12 km north of the city of Siauliai. It is believed that the first crosses were placed at a former military bunker site after the Lithuanian uprising against Russia in November 1831. Over the centuries, Catholic pilgrims have placed many crosses here, as well as giant crucifixes, sculptures of Lithuanian patriots, statues of the Virgin Mary, and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries, each cross representing an unyielding spirit, a noble soul, and the silent, defiant national character.Meskuiciu seniunija · 66.5km from Panevezys

Although the total area of Vecrīga is not very large, it boasts over 800 years of history. Located in the Riga region of Latvia, Europe, it serves as both the geographical center of Riga and its historical and cultural center. Walking through it, you will find that the architectural styles and street layouts are much like those in Western European countries. From the Hanseatic League era, many historical landmarks remain here, such as the House of the Blackheads, along with many other historical traces. Although the name contains "Old Town," the "old" here refers to its long history, and the buildings themselves are far from "old." Each building holds its own against modern architecture, often possessing even more charm. Amber jewelry here is beautiful and quite famous. While the population is small, every Latvian is friendly and welcoming, always ready to answer travelers' questions, which is why this place is so popular with visitors.Latvia · Riga

Trakai Island Castle is located on an island in Lake Galve. Originally built in the late 14th century, it is a well-known attraction in Lithuania. The castle is built of pink brick and looks beautiful from a distance. While not large, the castle features thick walls, watchtowers, and a moat within its walls. After years of war, the castle was left in ruins. In the 1970s, the relevant authorities decided to rebuild it, and it has since been largely restored to its original appearance. Today, the castle serves as a history museum exhibiting arts and crafts, and its main hall can host concerts.Lithuania · Trakai
Wolf's Lair

Wolf's Lair

4.4
Wolf's Lair was one of Nazi Germany's main command centers on the Eastern Front during World War II, located in Gierłoż, approx. 8 km from Kętrzyn, and situated deep in the Masurian woods. The base was built in 1940. Its headquarters had three entrances guarded by guardhouses: East, West, and South. The entire area was divided into three security zones. The area was thoroughly camouflaged and guarded. The Führer's personal safety was ensured by the Reich Security Service (RSD), as well as other SS and police units. The safety of its residents and visitors was ensured by heavy anti-aircraft positions, minefields, barbed wire fences, and fixed and mobile guard posts located in bunkers. In January 1945, the Germans used large amounts of explosives to destroy most of the buildings during their retreat, but due to their sturdy structure, many facilities remain to this day. Today, this place has become a historical site, attracting thousands of tourists. Visitors can tour Security Zones 1 and 2 to learn about the lives and activities of Nazi commanders such as Hitler, Hermann Göring, and Heinrich Himmler.Poland · Ketrzyn County

The Blackhead Palace is located on Riga's City Hall Square. Its red brick exterior features gables and spires, and the portico is adorned with elaborate reliefs and an astronomical clock. The interior now serves as a museum; the second-floor lobby boasts stained glass and murals, the colors softened by the light filtering through the glass. The basement wine cellar retains its vaulted structure, and the air is filled with the scents of stone and old wood. Several manicured trees stand in the square, and a nearby fountain operates in the summer. The building was destroyed during World War II and has been rebuilt, but the red brick hue harmonizes well with the surrounding older buildings.
