The Sarawak Cultural Village is located at the foot of Mount Santubong, covering an area of 17 acres. Although the cultural village is not large, it is like a living museum, allowing tourists to witness the diverse culture of Sarawak with their own eyes. The environment in the cultural village is quiet and the scenery is beautiful. The village has traditional longhouses and various styles of residences of Sarawak's seven major ethnic groups, including Ulu, Punan, Melanau, Iban, Bidayuh, Malay, and Chinese. Most of the buildings are built with saltwood, bamboo, rattan, and attap leaves. The original materials make it feel like a primitive village. In this "living museum", each house has ethnic artists wearing traditional costumes busy making handicrafts and explaining their lifestyles to tourists. There are often demonstrations of handicraft production and dance and music performances of various ethnic groups in the village. Visiting the Sarawak Cultural Village is a cultural journey, and you can deeply feel the rich cultural heritage of Sarawak. After visiting the cultural village, the fun is to sit in the theater and watch the dance performances of various ethnic groups. The program is rich and colorful and very popular. Each dance performance is actually a wonderful performance of ethnic costumes, which is not only a vivid portrayal of Sarawak civilization, but also brings tourists the message of harmonious coexistence of diverse ethnic groups.Malaysia · Kuching

Semenggoh Wildlife Center (Semenggoh Wildlife Center) is located about 30 minutes drive from Kuching City. The entire center is in the rainforest and has a large area. Residents in the suburbs used to like to keep orangutans as pets. Later, the government made a law It is stipulated that no wild animals can be adopted, so the center was opened to retrain the group of orangutans, who had lost their parents and grew up in human environments, and put them back into the forest to live on their own. There are now 24 orangutans in the center, each with its own name. 09:00 and 15:00 are the feeding times every day. The staff will put the fruit on the platform and ask the orangutan to climb down to find food. When watching orangutans, remember to keep quiet, and remember to wear cloth shoes, raincoats, mosquito repellant and a long lens. Seeing wild orangutans in the wild is different from seeing orangutans in zoos and circuses.Malaysia · Siburan

I had a fabulous trek into Bako National Park, even though the weather didn’t fully cooperate. It was raining when I arrived, so unfortunately I didn’t get to see much wildlife along the trails but just as I made my way back to the base, I was lucky enough to spot one of Bako’s famous residents: the bearded pig!Getting there was an adventure in itself. I took a cab straight from my hotel to the Bako terminal to register. I felt super lucky because, as I arrived, I found a group of friendly strangers who had one slot left on their boat. Sharing with them saved me a lot of money, I only paid RM 40 for the round-trip boat ride instead of having to pay the full RM 200 if you don’t find anyone to share with. So if you’re planning to go solo, try to team up with other travelers at the terminal, it’s a great way to save some ringgit and meet new people!Once I got there, the rain had just stopped, so I decided to hike up Telok Pandan Besar and Telok Pandan Kecil. The first part of the trail was quite challenging, with steep slopes that really gave my legs a workout. But the views and the sense of adventure made it totally worth it.If you ever come to Kuching, I definitely recommend setting aside a day for Bako National Park. It’s such a unique place — you’ll feel like you’re stepping into another world of dense jungle, hidden beaches, and the chance to spot amazing wildlife.

Marina Bay Park Miri boasts the closest open beach to the city center, less than a kilometer north to south, facing the sea to the west. The sea breeze and rolling waves offer a perfect spot to linger and enjoy the natural scenery. As I strolled along the shore, I saw red frangipani (Plumeria rubra), Terminalia catappa (Terminalia catappa, a species commonly planted in coastal areas due to its salt tolerance and adaptation to seaside environments), sisal (Agave sisalana), quince (Agave sisalana, an upright shrub belonging to the Asclepiadaceae family), and ornamental trees.

Visiting Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Kuching, Sarawak was an experience I’ll cherish forever. Nestled in lush rainforest, this sanctuary serves as a rehabilitation center for orangutans and is a testament to the commitment towards wildlife conservation. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the chance to see the orangutans up close during their feeding time. Watching them swing gracefully through the treetops and interact with one another was nothing short of magical.

Serenity by the Sarawak: My Morning Escape at Kuching WaterfrontEnjoyed a lovely late morning stroll along the Sarawak River with beautiful views of the legislative assembly building. The area was quiet and relaxing with few people around - perfect for some peaceful downtime. Appreciated the benches under shady trees where you can sit and enjoy the cool river breeze. A simple but pleasant way to experience Kuching's riverside charm without crowds. Great spot for: - Leisurely walks - Quiet contemplation - Enjoying river views - Escaping the city bustle No frills, just a nice public space by the water. Ideal for travelers looking for a calm moment in between sightseeing. --- Note: Visit in morning/evening for best temperatures
