Aqua Planet Jeju

Aqua Planet Jeju is located on the coast of Seopjikoji in eastern Jeju Island and is one of the leading large-scale aquariums in South Korea. The venue consists of three main themed areas: the aquarium zone, the marine theater, and the marine science museum. Covering over 20,000 m² and holding tens of thousands of tons of water, it houses tens of thousands of marine creatures of hundreds of species, from sand tiger sharks and rays to penguins, seals, and walruses, offering a remarkably dense array of attractions. Observe various local fish and experience the beauty of Jeju Island's ocean. Walk through the underwater tunnel and observe aquatic life living freely. Touch and pet underwater creatures with your child in the touch pool. Aqua Planet Jeju covers an area of approx. 25,600 m², with a total aquarium capacity of approx. 10,800 t. The aquarium displays tens of thousands of creatures in total, including six dolphins, giant sharks, and red snapper. The aquarium has three floors in total: one underground and two above ground. Visitors enter from the second-floor entrance. The second floor recreates the "Jeju Island and the Five Oceans"—the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Southern Ocean—and displays representative creatures from each ocean. The theme of the first floor is "a wonderful encounter between ocean and jungle," where visitors can view seals, penguins, and other creatures in three dimensions. Inside the aquarium, dense trees and jungle create a refreshing and delightful scene. In addition, the "Ocean Adventure" area offers visitors the chance to experience a tropical rainforest adventure. The first floor also has a touch pool where children can reach into the water after finishing "Ocean Adventure" and get up close to marine life such as sharks, conchs, and starfish. The basement level houses the main pool, known as the "3D (IMAX) Sea" of Aqua Planet Jeju. This pool, called the "Sea of Jeju Island," is 23 m long and 8.5 m high, and it takes a full two weeks to fill. The breathtaking scenery makes visitors feel as if they are inside a 3D movie. To better withstand the enormous water pressure, the pool is made of 60 cm thick acrylic panels. △Fantasy world. We sincerely invite you toThe ocean, a fantasy world where everything from exciting song and dance to diving becomes reality! △Main tank feeding time. The Jeju Aquarium's massive main tank, "Jeju Sea," has a feeding time where you can watch stingrays gliding gracefully through the water while interesting ecological stories are shared.

Seongsan Ilchulbongis a rare volcanic cone that erupted from the sea 100,000 years ago among the many craters on Jeju Island. It stands 182m above sea level and features a bowl-shaped crater at the summit that is 600m in diameter and 90m deep. Ninety-nine sharp rocks surround the crater, resembling a giant crown. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, the area is very open. To the north is Udo, to the south is Seopjikoji, and to the west are Siksanbong, Dusanbong, and Jimi-bong peaks. The sunrise view from the summit of Seongsan Ilchulbong will leave you in awe. If you visit on a weekend, you will see many locals from South Korea—men, women, and children alike—striving to climb to the summit, because the higher you climb, the more breathtaking the scenery becomes. Only at the summit can you fully appreciate the vast coastline, the sea, and the magnificent pastoral scenery of the grasslands, so since you are here, be sure to make the climb to the top! It was once used as farmland, but now it is home to over 200 species of plants, including silver grass, vines, and angelica, as well as various animals like pheasants. Since the ridge is covered with grass, you can take a walk or even ride one of the local short-legged horses. In addition, the nearby canola flowers bloom in a brilliant yellow in the spring, making it even more wonderful to watch the sunrise among them. This is also a filming location for the popular South Korean dramas "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" and "My Girl." Furthermore, around New Year's Day each year, the Seongsan Sunrise Festival is held here, where the grand celebrations and unique folk culture will surely leave you with unforgettable memories.

Udo

4.7/5
1.9k reviews

Udo, known by various names such as Coral Island, Haenyeo Island, and Lighthouse Island, is a small island located in the eastern part of Jeju. The island is shaped like a lying cow, hence the name Udo, which means "Cow Island." Apart from the parasitic volcano Udobong of Hallasan, the island is generally flat, with steep cliffs where it meets the sea. 80% of the filming for Jeon Do-yeon's "My Mother, the Mermaid" took place on Udo. Choi Ji-woo's "Now and Forever" and Jun Ji-hyun's "Il Mare" also featured scenes shot on Udo, making it one of Jeju's representative tourist attractions. The peak standing on the flat land of Udo is Udobong. Its unique height offers a panoramic view of Udo and even a glimpse of Seongsan Ilchulbong. Climbing up the slope along the fence to the top, you arrive at the white lighthouse. The path connecting the lawn and the reed field seems more charming than the view from the top of the lighthouse. A few cows scattered among the bushes remind visitors of the island's name. Unknown wildflowers sway in the wind, creating a romantic scene akin to a lyrical poem. There are also miniature models of lighthouses such as the Sokcho Lighthouse and the Pagoda Lighthouse on display here. The path to the lighthouse is quite steep, making it unsuitable for the elderly or infirm to climb. Additionally, "Udo Eight Views" are the representative landscapes of Udo, including four pairs of scenes: Day and Night (Daytime Moon, Night Fishing Sails), Heaven and Earth (Tianjin Mountain View, Dito Green Sand), Front and Back (Front Port Island View, Back Sea Cliff), East and West (East Coast Whale Cave, West Beach White Sand). The Back Sea Cliff and East Coast Whale Cave, part of the Udo Eight Views, are located under the towering Udobong. The Back Sea Cliff is 20 meters high and 30 meters wide, surrounding the Black Sand Beach, famous for its black sand. The East Coast Whale Cave, located at the end of the beach, is one of Udo's famous caves, named for its capacity to hold eastern whales, also known as "Nose Cave." The entrance to the East Coast Whale Cave is visible only at low tide. Enjoying the outside sky and sea view from inside the cave offers a unique experience.

Camellia Hill Botanical Garden

326 reviews

Camellia Hill Botanical Garden is a camellia-themed arboretum in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, covering an area of about 170,000 square meters. The garden is planted with more than 6,000 camellia trees of over 500 varieties, including camellias with exceptionally large blooms, early-blooming camellias, and fragrant camellias. In addition to camellias, the garden also features shaped trees such as coconut palms and a variety of wildflowers, complemented by a wild garden, a lawn plaza, and an ecological pond, forming a botanical garden known for its landscaping. The charm of this arboretum lies in the different flower seas to enjoy throughout the year—in winter, red, pink, and white camellias bloom in full force across the hillsides, and fallen petals carpet the walkways like a floral blanket; in early summer, hydrangeas reach full bloom, especially the "Hydrangea Tunnel," where blue-purple hydrangea bushes taller than a person arch into a flower corridor on both sides, making it a photo spot favored by visitors; in spring, cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom in succession, while in fall, pink muhly grass sways in the breeze, dyeing the park in a layer of romantic pink. The garden features a large glass greenhouse where visitors can stroll among the flowers and rest even on rainy days, and the café beside the greenhouse allows guests to enjoy drinks while admiring the blooms. Walking the entire one-way route takes about two hours, and the forest paths are surrounded by shade, so visitors won't feel overly exposed to the sun even in summer. There is no nighttime lighting in the park, and it closes after sunset, so daytime visits are recommended. In addition, the garden has a gallery displaying camellia crafts and a themed souvenir shop selling distinctive merchandise such as hand cream and eco-friendly bags designed around camellia motifs.

Seopjikoji

4.6/5

Seopjikoji is located in the eastern part of Jeju Island and is a cape that extends into the open sea. There are various theories about the origin of "Seopji," such as "narrow land," while "koji" is the Jeju dialect for a cape protruding into the sea. The coastline here is composed of black volcanic rock, and red volcanic scoria can be seen around Hongak, which contrasts with rocks of various shapes. The cliff top features an open grassland where Jeju horses are often seen grazing on the grassy slopes. In the distance, the sea is blue, and you can also overlook Seongsan Ilchulbong, which is approx. 180m above sea level. This place was a filming location for the Korean drama "All In," and the scenes in the drama featuring the grassland, coastline, and white lighthouse left a deep impression. Other film and television works such as "Eyes of Dawn" and "High Kick!" were also filmed here. Walking along the coastal trail, you can see the white lighthouse standing high on the grassy slope, and after climbing the steps, you can look out over the winding coastline. The Seonseol Rock on the nearby sea is also quite unique, and there is a local legend that the son of the Dragon King waited for a fairy and then turned into a rock. The grassland also preserves a stone beacon mound from the Joseon Dynasty, which was used in the past to transmit coastal defense messages using fire and smoke. Along the path leading to the lighthouse, you can see the windbreak stone walls common in Jeju. The canola flower fields inside the walls turn golden yellow in spring, forming a coastal view together with the grassland, strange rocks, lighthouse, and the sea. Strolling along the trail, you can enjoy the coastal scenery and grassland views all the way.

I visited Jeju Island during my trip to South Korea. Located in southwestern South Korea, Jeju Island is the largest island in the country and its only special autonomous province. The direct flight from Guangzhou to Jeju Island takes about two and a half hours. Jeju Island is famous for its volcanic landscape and mild climate, earning it the nickname "Korea's Hawaii." In 2007, its natural landscapes, including Hallasan Mountain and lava caves, were listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Famous attractions on the island include Hallasan Mountain, lava caves, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and the Olle Trails, among others.

Fun! Great for taking photos both indoors and outdoors! The indoor area is mainly for taking pictures of comics, and there are also stamps and "worry-relief notes." The outdoor area is large, perfect for relaxing and strolling around. The only downside was that we got a bit lost towards the end; we were planning to leave at 13:50 but didn't get out until 14:10 because we couldn't find our way, the map wasn't very clear, and our phones didn't have GPS, so we just wandered around. But the flaws don't detract from the overall experience! It was fantastic! Regarding the indoor restaurant, I ordered the omelet rice, which was just okay, a bit too sweet for my taste. The Snoopy orange juice was 6000 won; only after buying it did I see on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) that the apple juice next door was 7000 won and came with a Snoopy bottle opener—buy that one, don't buy this one.

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is an iconic World Natural Heritage site on Jeju Island. This "green crown," formed by an underwater volcanic eruption, rises majestically from the sea, its massive crater at the summit creating a stunning contrast with 99 other uniquely shaped peaks. Not only is it an exceptional spot for watching the sunrise over the sea, but climbing to the top also offers panoramic views of the azure ocean and the beautiful Udo Island. It's an unmissable destination for anyone visiting Jeju Island to experience the wonders of nature.

The island has its own unique atmosphere that you won’t find on Jeju or on the Korean mainland. You can circle the island on an electric bike in 4–5 hours, but I’d dedicate a whole day to this trip. And be sure to try the local culinary delights.

Autumn has pleasant weather and beautiful scenery, making it a great time for seniors to travel. The roads are flat, and there are plenty of restrooms. Be sure to sit in the greenhouse garden café; it's a very photogenic spot.

The Hello Kitty Museum in Jeju Island is a dream come true for any girl! How can you visit Jeju Island without checking out the Hello Kitty Museum? Our group of women was vacationing in Jeju Island and stayed at the Shilla Hotel. Getting there by taxi was convenient, although it can be difficult to hail one during peak hours. The museum is huge, and every scene is photogenic. However, many girls in Lolita dresses would hog one scene, which made the experience less enjoyable. I recommend visiting during the off-season. Afterwards, you can relax at the café; the food is pretty good, and the photos turn out great. Unfortunately, it was a bit hot, so we didn't go to the rooftop. Before leaving, we did some shopping in the shops. If you don't go to the museum, you can still enter the shops. I think buying tickets online is cheaper.

The submarine is a must see for people of all ages. Highly suitable for kids to elders. Nice clean well prepared attraction. Easy to get to and close to the waterfall. The submarine takes you down and you can see fish , coral, and a wreck. If you are in Jeju you should do it. Booking via TRIP worked well

Also known as Seopji Cape, it's a volcanic rock cape on the east coast of Jeju Island. It's located in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, near Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The name means: "Seopji" is an ancient place name, and "Gaji" is a Jeju dialect word referring to an outward-protruding terrain. Formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 200,000 years ago, the basalt coastline is open to the public free of charge. The cliffside meadows are treeless, offering expansive views; black basalt reefs contrast beautifully with the azure sea and sky, with a magnificent rock rising from the sea. The white lighthouse is a landmark, accessible by climbing to overlook the coastline; stone walls and rapeseed fields (golden in April) line the path. An ancient beacon tower (stone structure, approximately 4 meters high) is preserved. It was a filming location for the Korean dramas *All In* and *Queen In-hyun's Man*, and features the "All in House" drama museum.

It was cold and tiring to come out early in the morning, but I think it was a good idea to come and see the sun rising over the sea. The sunrise is at 7:30, but many people are waiting early. Please stop by.
